resorthoppa have quoted £22.50 for transfers - dont forget 10% quidco too making it £20.25p so an extra tenner each.

or a taxi wont be too much.

I've been to loads of Greek islands but I just can't deal with putting my bottie wipes in a bin next to the loo any more.

Kardamena is yet another Blackpool abroad destination, only there are more chavs there.

Seems a good price if that's what floats yer boat.

Hmmm, that's another reason for me not to go then. We went to Cyprus for the first time a couple of years ago and were uncomfortably close to Ayia Napa. That and the complimentary toilet bins made things a bit difficult.

Protaras is where we went...lol. Are they staying at the Anastasia Beach hotel by any chance?

no they are staying at a hotel whose names escapes me, but its a 5 star - us (myself, my wife, a 4 yr old and a 1 year old) have yet to book and have been looking at that hotel.....

I got married in Protaras 7 years ago... stayed at Capo Bay hotel on Fig Tree Bay. Thoroughly recommended.

CYPRUS IS A HOLE

Whilst I might agree that ayia napa is a hole, the rest of the island is beautiful, very modern and very expensive to live there. The locals are the friendliest I have come across. The spanish are the worst from my experience.

Have you ever been?

wow looks fantastic

anyone been to santorini?
Its the most beautiful island in greece and the people there are very friendly

And what evidence would you like to base that on? It's a beautiful island and i'm going back there for the 7th time this year to protaras

Constantinos the great?
#22
slightly off topic but regardin the cyprus comments, have travelled to many places and whilst cyprus..particularly ayia napa may be an acquired taste ie for those who enjoy a good drinkin session, being surrounded by east londoners on scooters, and scantily clad women, it does have one of the best beaches i have been to...nissi beach total class

Constantinos the great?

thanks for the tip - ill check it out. We are not going unitl July 09 - the prices quoted at the moment are very highg, do you think they are likely to drop ion price if we wait a while before booking? or the opposite, and go up the longer we leave it?

Most people seem to say how lovely and beautiful Cyprus is. I'm sure that might be the case for the west of the island but our experience was that we found Larnaca and east of the island very grotty and full of Brits and tacky English and Irish pubs and theme bars with names like Fools & Horses and Flintstones. I don't think we saw one remotely traditional thing in the two weeks we were there.

The beaches were covered in litter and were sort of a scummy mud instead of sand.

Expect to see loads of fat blokes with arms covered in tattoos wearing sports gear but looking like the only exercise they get is putting a glass to their mouth.

Dare I say that it was very chavy to be honest.

Its an amazing hotel - we were due to stay there in 2005 with thomas cook but because of "overbooking" got bumped to the golden coast in pernera which was a load of ****

Priices dont tend to drop there from what ive looked at. I'd get in as early as poss if you can.

Who cares what other people look like , you obviously paying to much attention to other people and not enjoying your own holiday.

I've never been myself but if i went on holiday with a constant moaner i wouldn't be impressed , you obviously didn't do your research before you went then
:whistling:

I have to agree that Larnaca really isn't up to much lol. The promenade is beautfiul along the front, but there isn't much else unless you have a car. Ayia napa's harbour is great with loads of shops and nissi beach is a fantastic place to go with Makronissos beach and the waterpark. Protaras is probably the most "english" resort on the island, but i think fig tree bay and some of the places around there (Like Ayios Elias church or whatever you call it) make up for it.

Does anybody know if the magic dancing waters are still going in protaras?

We didn't constantly moan at all. In fact we still had quite a nice holiday but just would never consider going back.

We did do a lot of research beforehand by going on many personal recommendations and cross referencing the hotel and resort on Trip Advisor and Holidays Uncovered. What we perhaps overlooked is that the resort and place is a great choice if you're attracted to this sort of particular place which is difficult to gauge going on reading matter alone.
#29
I recommend the peaceful Dome Beach Hotel a few miles west of Ayia Napa on the beautiful Makronissos bay.

Yes Ive been. It is stunning and I would never get tired of those views. It isnt great for beach lovers though given its black sand and its not that cheap to eat out. The poor Euro/£ rate is making everywhere in Europe look expensive at the moment too.

the first one you mentioned loosk very expensieve, will look at the dome beach now - odessa - is that another one? thanks for the tips btw

and views on the Iliada beach hotel? i can get HB for myself anf my wife, a 4 year old and a 2 year old for £1942
#33
If the Dome Beach is too expensive, try the Asterias Beach Hotel which is in the adjacent bay just round the corner. Good recent reviews, fab location on the beach.
#34
The asterias is another one i looked at, but we got 2 weeks AI for 3 adults in august for £2k excluding flights at the odessa (4*) which is next door to the constantinos so i'm happy. Booked through thomson hotel only.
#35
And seemingly the problem with the dome beach is that it is a Thomas Cook exclusive in the UK, unless you book with the hotel direct.
#36
how close are these nissi bay hotels, though, to protaras? as thats where most of our family will be staying at and the wedding will be taking place you see
#37
You can catch a bus between Nissi beach/Ayia Napa/Protaras.. it should take half and hour ish but ive never been on one so can't give a great description of it. I'll try and find the map for you with both the resorts on.

If you can get the odessa cheap with thomson it really is stonking value IMO.

^^ that one shows nissi bay to the left of ayia napa

thats a not very good map but you can see where the hotels are located and how far it is to ayia napa.. nissi bay is just across to the left off the map. The road goes up and down a bit but will take about 15-20 20 mins in a car. The road goes quie a way out due to the terrain, and the area it goes through (cape greko) is amazing!

If you haven't a car, i'd advise you not to go for a hotel in pernera.

Beware.

This hotel is built into the hill side. it has very very steep steps to get down to the pool.

I havnt actually stayed there but I stayed at the hotel next door (cant remember the name) we went here to have a look. foyer is impressive but as I said built on side on a mountain more than a hill.

it does have a small lift which takes you down to all the levels but difficult for disabled and young kids.

I took a look with my 14yr old 6 yr old and 7 yr old was glad to come away from there I was a nervous wreck. facilities and food looked great.

if you are young fit healthy with no kids GREAT DEAL otherwise I would not bother.

long way down to the beach. beach is brown earthy time sand.
Hope this helps.
