Alliance & Leicester have recently introduced 2 new current account products as of today:

(i) Premier Direct Current Account: 6.1% AER credit interest on balances up to £2500 (fixed until 30/09/2007) and interest free overdraft for 12 months (5.9% typical AER thereafter). At least £500 (salary or otherwise) must be paid into the account each month to maintain it.

(ii) Premier Current Account: 1.5% AER credit interest (variable) on balances up to £2500 and interest free overdraft for 12 months (7.9% typical AER therafter). At least £500 (salary or otherwise) must be paid into the account each month to maintain it.

In addition, if you open a Premier Current Account (NOT a premier direct current account) then you can open a 1 year regular saver account which pays a fixed rate of 12% AER (maximum saving £250 per month - i.e. £3000 over the year) as well as annual multi-trip travel insurance (Europe only).

Furthermore, if you know someone who already has an Alliance and Leicester Premier or Premier Direct Current Account, they can refer you when you open your account and both you and the referrer will receive £50 if you complete this voucher when you open the account:

Personally, I think the Premier Current Account is a better option given that you can make use of the 12% regular saver and travel insurance.

I have this account...haven't checked but Quidco were offering a £50 cashback....if it's still available be careful as you have to clear your cookies before using the quidco link as your £50 can go elsewhere if you don't.

I believe Quidco pay £50 for opening a Premier Direct Current Account but I'm not sure if they'll pay anything for opening a Premier Current Account.

Good point about cookies [on all QuidCo clicks too].

***It is very important to clear your cookies before proceeding through this link, as if you have visited A&L first through another site they will be credited with the commission (having been the first to refer you). If you have gone directly to the A&L site they will place their own cookie on your computer and will not allow the quidco cookie to track. If this does not track we cannot support any enquiries on missing earnings.

I opened an account in March, Quidco never tracked and I put in a query in early June and it is still showing as "passed to vendor" or whatever. If you got through Quidco and don't get your £50 don't be surprised.
#6
I opened one of these in June and my £50 from quidco has just been paid. So it does work for some, just make those cookies are cleared first!

No you need QuidCo cookies for tracking your personal link click throughs...

As someone else suggested on the forum and something I've done myself in the past. Use a different browser for all your QuidCo clicks. There are plenty to choose from and they're free to download...

Thanks for the feedback vurt :)

That could work okay happenstance, but it's the other tracking sites which you don't realise you might have clicked through. So best to delete all cookies...

Sounds good, but surely the Premier Current Account is the better of the two options as it allows you to open a regular saver account.
#12
PM me if anyone wants a referall and a split of the freebee
#13

Dont understand why you say Premier Current Account ( only(1.5% AER credit interest) is better than Premier Direct Current Account (6.1% AER credit interest).

Am I missing something here?

think it was a mistake..Premier Direct is the one to get.

so can you take money out?
#21
So its either £50 via Quidco OR £50 via a friends referal (plus £50 for the friend of course). Or is it possible to take advantage of both in some way????

yes (if you've got money in there to start with :-D )

it's a current account and so money in/out no problem/penalties.

If you're asking about the regular saver bit though then no, you'd finish the account if you take the money out and similar for the ISA (works the same way as other ISAs and you can't put the money back in if you take it out)

I would suggest...one should chk referers section in moneysavingexpert here

There are few popular (and very honest) referrers who will give you £40 of their share and you get £50 as your own share...so you make £90 (40+50) total... but one cannot go thru quidco in that case...

Hope this helps.. :)
#25
Yup,

I opened an acct few months back. quidco did track and I got my RAF bonus. You might want to take your chances with quidco. Did it with one of the referrers in the MSE board. think he gave me 40 out of the 50 pounds bonus he got.

I have started referring as well and will be offering 45 out of the 50 pounds! PM me if interested! I will get you started!

Cheers

I opened a Premier Direct account last year and the process was more painful than pulling your own teeth with pliers. I was bombarded with paper and pin numbers over the course of three weeks, and whenever I phoned up with a query they were closed (no phone service after about 9pm) - so much for "Premier".
The account also only had a £250 per day cash limit on your debit card, which was a pain - again "Premier" account holders not very highly thought of.
And to top it all I applied through Quidco, it never tracked and when I made a claim I never heard again, so didn't even get the £50.
I've now closed that account and decided to stay with FirstDirect.

I went through quidco and was sure to clear my cookies first but it did not track, waiting for it to be passed ro a&l now after having the account for a month and a half

does it have to be 500 paid in and you can spend from that or does it have to be 500 pounds after spending?
