What's the difference between easy bake and normal dried active please?

Easy bake you add to flour dry, dried active yeast needs to be added to warm water first like fresh yeast

Bread yeast is one of the very few things I now won't buy in bulk.

In years gone by, Tesco used to do 3-for-2 deals on home baking stuff and I'd stock up big time on flour, black treacle and yeast because it was so cheap. I'd always get through the flour and treacle but after a several months, I'd start experiencing problems with dough rising very slowly of not at all. This was with yeast that was technically still well within its sell by date. Upping the amount of yeast I'd add or opening a new packet didn't cure the problem but buying a new box of yeast (I like Aldi's yeast; about 57p for 8 x 7g) and magically all my problems went away. I hate throwing stuff away but on this occasion, I dumped all the old Tesco yeast and learnt the lesson.

So unless you know you're going to get through all 24 packets relatively quickly, I might think twice before buying so much. If, like me, you end up throwing some of it away because it's lost its activity, then it's a false economy.

I needed to spend £3 to get free delivery on something and also about to run out of yeast, I'll get through these in a month or 2, not the greatest price but will do me.
