Better off putting a bit more money in and getting a better spec one, these are very very low spec with an old version of android.

the screen is flimsy - poor build on these cheap tablets

It won't get slated because it's "not apple", it'll get slated by the "why not spend more" crew who don't really seem to grasp that some people can benefit from a cheap tablet as a sofa browser, a media remote or something for the kids to play around on.

it's a pretty basic spec, so it won't be good for much but for the price it's certainly a good deal so heat from me at least.

Or maybe it'll just get slated because it's pants and won't do a hell of a lot!

I have one of these and I agree they are potentially good for the media remote/movies/ereader aspect but for anything else these totally suck they are ridiculously slow, battery life is very poor, kids will barely be able to play anything above very basic apps.

I love the company name, 'Best of British' when it's almost certainly built as cheaply as possible in China...

Exactly. You don't buy a tablet with a spec like this with designs on gaming or anything like that, you buy one because you're on a budget and you want it for a specific purpose.

I certainly wouldn't rule one out as a DLNA browser for my NAS drive and Chromecast.

You could buy one of these and use it to get £50 back on a Linx 10".

Sadly I have to agree, this model is extremely slow, not fit for purpose as you cant even do the simplest of tasks.

... and before anybody states, these tablets are made in the same factories as all the branded tablets, they are most certainly not.

Avoid all the cheap unbranded tablets, they are a total waste of money. If you are on a budget, just go and buy the low end cheap brands such as Archos, Versus, GoClever etc.

not voting, but even kids will get frustrated with these spec tablets, imagine a 5yr old trying to do something and it not responding, they won't understand and it will quickly gather dust

PS speaking from experience

any tablet with 512mb memory is totally pointless for much more than browsing - little un cant play and kids games on hers as there isnt enough memory to run the apps - pile of crap stay away
#15
I had one with almost the exact same spec about 2 years ago only paid £50 for it ... it was at the very low end of "ok" but would be utterly useless now :( ..

not entirely true. we've had two different tablets with 512mb ram. one was complete tripe but the Acer B1 runs very well even today, gets used for games like bad piggies and tiki racing and runs fine

What was the complete tripe tablet you used?

I bought this last Xmas for my 5 yr old, still going strong even tho been dropped a dozen times

its horses for courses - I purchased a whole bunch of £50 tablets 12 months ago to run a particular application for my customers - and they are all VERY happy - so if it meets your needs then its worth the ££ - I can only guess that all those that say "crap" drive a big red Ferrari - because you wouldn't want to be driving a "crap" Ford that only does 110mph.

Tempting for a plex/xbmc remote that can do my WiFi lights when I eventually set them up

I've got a couple of these cheap Allwinner tablets in different specs. I thought they were a good deal for a budget tablet for the odd game and web, but they crash continously (within the first week of use), they are extremely unreliable, and they freeze regularly. I'd recommend spending £60-£70 the next time a Kindle or other name tablet comes up instead.

My first tablet was an All Winner about 18 months ago and it was old tech then. Paid £60 for it.
I basically just wanted an ereader with browser and email, I dont play games.
However while the apps seemed to mostly work Ok at first , browsing was eventually unbearingly slow becoming useless,
I tried resetting to factory, several different browsers , etc but no better.
6 months later I got a refurbished original Nexus 7 which was a breath of fresh air, which I still have and use daily.

The irony here is .. Todays OP at least got some kinda heat off of theirs, whereas the OP from 2+ Days back simply got nowt at all ..... its a shame really.

These could always also be use as a cool & fancy Slideshow Picture Viewer for your GIFs,JPGs,TIFs,PNGs, & the like ..... i'm sure for that feature at least, this would also be very cool?!. :-)
