This looks very promising at price with a good review from trustedreviews, 4.5 average stars on Amazon and a good price. LG Have been involved in the Nexus series too which bodes well. If not a Moto G beater maybe something to have instead to avoid the herd (I can say this as I have a 2013 Moto G I got almost as they came out!) - I'm thinking of one of these as never happy with the G's camera or lack of expandable storage.329ppi - 4.7inch screen beating the original if not the newer one. 1.5Ghz quad core. MHL Support and 16GB storage PLUS micro SD support. Camera might be better too - some reviews criticise autofocus but I think it has been fixed. 4.4.2 Kitkat apparently available according to a quick google but no idea if Lollipop is on cards. Rakuten was also doing £10 off spends over £40 from one merchant at present - result! According to one site this phone was £425 SIM free at release, so quite a markdown, even if it is not quite up to the standards of the S3 or other phones it shares a timeline with.

UPDATED Back in stock - 6 left!!! Also at Expansys direct at http://www.expansys.com/lg-optimus-4x-hd-p880-black-229927/?medium=ppc&utm_campaign=adcore&gclid=CPal64q42cICFcTnwgodAFYAbg

Why? A lot of good devices have had them if I remember correctly...

poor performance from alternative ROMs due to proprietary drivers that Nvidia never updates.

Very similar to N4

You're assuming that most people use alternative ROMs whereas most people (in fact everyone) I know stay with stock, me included!!!

Camera focus was fixed, just make sure to update to latest LG firmware. It's a great phone for that price. I happily used one for two years and only upgraded to get 4g. Which I hardly use.

Thanks for the confirmation - good to know! Looks like I'm retiring my 2013 Moto G sooner than I expected :-)

Shouldn't be slower. Battery life is mentioned as being an issue, but I reckon I will be using the eco-core a lot of the time...

Just looked on ebay - should get most of my money back on ebay for my old Moto G too, which will help my wife forgive my impulse purchase...though I think she still might stage a HotUKDeals "intervention" yet X)

Is this 4G / LTE?

Is this 4G / LTE?
Nope... like most of the country's coverage! To be honest, I can't see why anyone would need 4G unless they've got the sort of bundled data that needs a tariff that probably comes with a 4G/LTE phone anyway...

That 35% is basically London and a few other bits - if you look at how they calculate the percentage, geographically it is quite a small amount still. AND as i was trying to suggest, super quick access is fairly redundant unless you have a nice amount of bundled data, for which most people have gotten a reasonably high spec free phone bundled in the tariff they have already anyway. Can't see point of going through 1GB of bundled data in first 10 minutes of month!

It is i gave my old p880 to my father and my mother has the Moto G so being a total tech nerd i tested them out against each other the moto g is around 1.5-2 time's the speed of the p880 the biggest factor is probably the OS the p880 runs android 4.1 and the tegra 3 was only ever optimized properly in the samsung S3 lg did not put out many updates for the p880

Don't know what you're doing wrong but I have a receipt for £89.99 and everything...

This is on the Rakuten page, NOT Expansys? Expansys are selling it through Rakuten

Interesting the reviews I looked at before taking plunge said it went like stink (for the time it came out) but battery could be better. Much like a Nexus 4 (hmmm also made by LG). Mind you my Moto G has slowed down a lot over time...

I can't say I'm mad about it's angular look but I'll trade that in for a better camera [fingers crossed]

I had just factory reset the p880 when i tested them so both phones were factory stock honestly i was betting the p880 would beat the G but phone tech has changed a lot in the past 3 or so years so I'm just saying if your buying the P880 and expecting it to be very fast your going to be disappointed that said you won't get a better phone at this price point

Great price OP. Had one for 18months and can highly recommend at this price. lovely phone and the shape is a nice change from the trend towards highly rounded edges. The edge is recessed all the way round giving good grip. If they could make this design on a 5.7 inch screen i would go for it straight away.

Worth mentioning I found online you can get 4.4.2 so be interesting to see if that helps.

Certainly user reviews on amazon all seem very positive on it. Noticed the 4.7 screen doesn't include onscreen buttons, so you get screen real estate more similar to 2014 Moto G actually with the higher resolution of 2013 model - which is nice! Also some more digging has revealed positive noises about low light performance of camera which is the major achille's heel of the older Moto G for me. [waits for usual "if you want a camera, get a camera" missing-the-point comment ;-)]

You can get a 4.4.2 rom but keep in mind you have to root the phone first as its not an LG update which might put some people off lol personally love the fact that you can update a 3 year old phone =) and yes the camera is much better than the moto G its not even close one thing alot of reviews missed was the fact the music performance on this phone is amazing not the loudest in the world but the clarity with a good set of headphones and poweramp is outstanding

Taken a punt and gone for one. The spec for the price of £89.99 seems very reasonable.
#37
Great phone for £89! Hopefully delivery won't take forever.
#38
shocking phone, I replaced my lg 4x hd with a Moto g half through my contact, very slow laggy phone with very poor battery life I was getting half a day, avoid this phone.
#39
My 4X HD was a reasonabe phone at first with ICS, but the update to JB made it appallingly laggy and the battery life wasn't great. At this price though, not a bad buy.

thanks op! code worked fine for me .the trick is to make sure you are either a member or sign up to be a member first. if you go on guest check out it doesn't give you an option to apply voucher code.
