RRP: £79.99 | You save: £62.00 (77%)

3D SURROUND expands the size of the audio image and creates a deep, rich bass response.

New MP3 players and other portable digital devices all come with headphones. The problem is, their quality may be an afterthought.

After all, device manufacturers are into devices, not headphones.

That's why Altec Lansing developed the Upgrader series of headphones - to give consumers a step up when replacing headphones. All Upgrader series headphone models are designed to offer great sound. But more than that, they provide a better, more customized fit for exceptional comfort.

Ordered, thanks!!

Sorry, but I bought these just last week and have returned them for a refund as they are rubbish IMHO  The '3D surround sound' did not work right at all, but just seemed to remove all treble - and left an unbalanced [left/right] very muddy sound.....

Of course they could have just been faulty [I returned them as such]

Two conflicting reviews here http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3286827&CatId=390 but I'd side with the first guy I'm afraid....

[ I bought a pair of Sennheiser HD202's instead for £15 odd from Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-HD202-Closed-Back-Headphone/dp/B000065BP9/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1242176379&sr=8-1 but they've turned out to be nothing special either - bought to listen with my brilliant bargain Creative 705 radio http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Soundworks-TableTop-Radio-Black/dp/B000VRZRSC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1242176477&sr=1-1 but my little earbud Creative EP-630's which can be had for just £8 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Labs-EP-630-A-Earphones/dp/B0009G6FQI/ref=pd_cp_ce_1?pf_rd_p=136153791&pf_rd_s=center-41&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000VRZRSC&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=135JXBWE5P12QFKPCPYH sounded instantly much, much better. Very underrated IMHO - mine are well run in as I've had them a couple of years]

Yep, did some googling AFTER ordering (and on the similar 615's with mic....and the reviews are pretty terrible.... mainly reliability of both the sets.

Luckily cancelling an order from Play takes about 2 clicks. ;)
#4
Yeah, I have these headphones and they arent even worth £5.
#5

Think I just went into my account and it shows you outstanding orders and the option to cancel, something like that. :)

sweet price, heat added
#8
Ordered these quite a while back from play for the same price, they are awful, avoid!
#9
Phew! Glad I'm not alone in thinking these stink.....

I'm always wary of slagging off any product because of just my own experience, but in this case it would appear either Play have got a bad faulty batch or they really are poo.

If you find you can't cancel at this stage [i.e. on their way to you] you can either return for a refund unopened AT YOUR EXPENSE or like I did, opened them and had a listen and returned as a faulty item - in either event you will need an authorisation number from Play. [my postage was refunded too]

I have the sennheiser CX500's which are supposed to be the best Sennhieser's for under £70 and it is marginally better than the EP-630 and is a lot more expensive.. I really recommend those Ep-630 and now regret paying so much extra for earphones which are only slightly better but have a lot worse sound isolation.

The Ep-630's are very underated and are definitely the best earphones for under £50 and the most value for money earphones in the world, i have used at least 15 different types of earphones and Ep-630 are one of the best.

It is a good saving but the headphones arnt worth the RRP, theres better sennheiser headphones available for £20. I bought these before Christmas and returned them.

Ordered, thanks!!

Your gona regret that, id cancell if i was you, these headphones are utter poo.
#16
Unfortunately it remains true, a little touch of reverb does not a '3D' or 'surround' audio set-up make and it always will remain the truth of the matter.
#17
Stop messing around and just by a pair of these, the last headphones you'll ever buy!:-D

Nice but way too dear. I really need a decent, but not too dear, set of headphones.

Anyone got any recomendations?
#22
Dammit, i paid £79.99 for these just last month..... ;-)

#24
Yep i would go for sennheiser every time. Anything that is reduce so dramatically has normally been slated in the reviews.
#25
DO NOT GET THESE! I got them from the same deal a few months ago and they are awful, for that price you can get headphones that are much better.
#26
Have been on the search for the Holy Grail of headphones for years, and yes tried the top of range Sens.
Nothing so far beats the Grado HD60. Not cheap, but not too expensive, superb open sound, clarity and definition. I now have stopped searching, these are the ones.

imo

i recommend skullcandy headphones had 3 different sets now (lost one) i use the low riders now they are great for everything . i use them for monitoring audio i record, mp3s and ive tried them with a live band on the front of house desk far better than the sonys we normally use better top and bottom end with less distortion at high volumes .

i expect people to contradict my opinion on the skullcandy headphones but they are reasonably priced and have a good range, response and volume etc i dont regard them as the best obviously im on here looking a better set .
#28
depending on how much you want to spend, in my opinion grado sr60 (start at £70) are very very good. I've not tried their 'budget' igrado phones (around half that) but they might be a winner
#29
this really needs to be in the cold, a lot of people are probably ordering these blindly and not reading this thread. terrible headphones even at that low of a price.
#30
It's all about the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro

What a set of cans. Best listening experience ever!

PS. Don't get Altec Lansing Headphones!

if you want to cancel your order, just phone up Play. Providing it hasn't been despatched, obviously.

I got a pair of the 805s last time they were £18 they share much in terms of design even look identical, I had been regretting it for ages and they remained in the case. But recently I got hold of a male to male mini stereo cable and used that to hook it up to my laptop instead of the cable that came with it, it completely sorted out the problem with the right side headphone cutting out. The sound quality are still nowhere near my newly acquired DR150s but because of the DR150's open air design these are definitely better at keeping outside noise out. Also I didn't buy the 805s for sound quality but mainly for the noise cancelling, but if the 405s sound similar to the 805s I doubt bassheads will be all that upset by them.

Btw a male to male mini stereo cable can be picked up from dealextreme for less than a quid so anyone who bought a pair of these and ended up regretting it, for less than a quid it's worth a shot getting a replacement cable before you sell them on.
