lol, fair enough, but for £6.75 (or 5.80) a day i think its a bargain. But i would just buy them for the second day, and use it another time.

thanks for the reply

Last 2 times I went to alton towers we went near the end of season and it was dead, but we got on rides with basically no queue. Although no queues was fun the atmosphere was pretty lame. But peak days are a nightmare so its a bit of a catch 22.

Superb deal though, hot

Do you have to go during half term to get the 2nd day free, or can you just skip it and go during the peak season?
#10
awesome deal. Superb value for 2 kids days out!!!! Heat added

Not exactly free, is it?

You have to have been shopping in Tescos rather a lot to get enough points for a family of 4...

Oh yes... and Tesco is the only supermarket in England

Even when I was doing a £70 approx shop every week at Tesco, I still only got about £12 back in Vouchers after 3 months, so I would need to do 6 months of shopping every week at Tescos at that rate just to get Alton Towers tickets?

Of course if people can get their tickets that way, that's good - I am just pointing out that the majority of people won't be getting their tickets that way.

Can anyone find a complete list of the rides open during half term?

I am a bit worried that the list only has 14 rides, but wouldn't mind that if all the little kiddies rides are open still

The majority of the rides will be open - except corkscrew for obvious reasons. I have no proof of this, except when i went last year in feb, everything was open.

The majority of rides WON'T be open and never are during February half term, but it should be quiet so the queues won't be long.

Probably because it's not busy enough to justify opening all rides.

I do want to book purely because I wanted to go later in the year anyway but am put off by the fact that it seems that hardly any of the rides are going to be open

Attractions available everyday from 10am – 4pm include Oblivion, Hex, Doodle-Doo Derby, Tractors, Riverbank Eye Spy, Berry Bish Bash, Dung Heap, Singing Barn, Squirrel Nutty Ride, Spinball Whizzer, Runaway Mine Train, Duel, Blade and Air.

It is a long journey form London to walk around saying to the kids "no you can't go on that it's closed, no you can't go on that one either, etc, etc!"

If I was nearer I would go for it, but it's just too far and the hotels are ridiculously expensive because it's half term so can't win either way!

Think I will be leaving it for now, thanks though OP

I do apologize, I was only going by what it was like last year.. and it was awful!! 3 hour ques for some rides... (the bigger ones) however... i stand corrected by your statement.
#28
I dont think it will be busy in the park, the hotels might be quite busy due to the waterpark and good hotel deals.

Rides that are open (which is easy enough to find by going on the alton towers website)

Air
Oblivion
Hex
Doodle Doo Derby
Tractors
Riverbank eye spy
Berry Bish Bash
Dung Heap
Singing Barn
Squirrel Nutty Ride
Spinball Whizzer
Runaway Mine Train
Duel
Blade

Nemesis was going to be on the list but due to a technical issue which cant be rectified until the new season, it had to be replaced by air, which to be honest, is a bit lighter on the old head!

I think any deal at alton towers is a good one cos the place is awesome, this year the park rides are geared to the littleuns so if you are expecting thrills, it may not be for you.

Im off to the hotel on the 18th, cant bloomin wait. Hot Hot Hot
#29
Thanks aircanman for pointing out that a lot of the rides are for the little'uns, just went through each one's height restrictions on the website and it looks like there is enough for us to pass the day.

Also, it just entered my mind that I can use the 2nd ticket at the weekend, I was thinking that we would have to take a day off school or something!

Just booked for the 18th, so can anyone else reading this please kindly book for any other day you want so that it is a bit quieter for us? Thanks

:giggle:

It doesn't get busy during February half term, I went last year and it was practically dead. I would recommend taking this deal up, even though I won't be, as I had a season ticket last year and kind of overdid it.

Hey this is the internet. Unless you plaster your posts with emoticons to indicate otherwise 90%* of people will take it at face value.

* I say 90% - I have no statistics or links to other sites to provide evidence of this figure... I kind of just made it up.

...oh...

#36
Just booked 2 adults and 5 children for my daughter's birthday 'party'... total £64.50, which for 2 days entry is surely a bargain. And we can use our Tesco vouchers on something else.

cheers to the OP :)

Mine hasn't tracked yet so what is the Quidco situation with lastminute? They have different percentages for different things. The OP has said 7% which seems to be only applicable to hotels. Then there's 4% for 'going out'... what do you reckon Alton Towers comes under?
#37
Are the tickets date specific or can you go any day during the week?
#38
You have to specify which day you are going when you book but tickets are available for each day.
#39
Probably of no interest to anyone but we just got back from our first trip to Alton Towers on this offer and had a great day out despite the weather and at least 50% of the rides closed. Park was quiet - longest we had to queue was maybe 15-20 mins.

They gave us tickets for our next trip at the advance booking office - he told us that they can be used anytime up until the end of June excluding Easter weekend and May half term... but the tickets they gave us say that they are valid until November... probably won't risk going after June though.

So thanks again for the OP for bringing this deal to our attention and this deal still seems to be available.

Incidently, the Quidco rate for this deal is 4%.

Just for info: we booked for Sat 14th Feb via lastminute.com .
The rides listed on the park map provided on entry are:
Doodle-Doo Derby, Tractors, Riverbank Eye Spy, Berry Bish Bash, Dung Heap, Singing Barn, Squirrel Nutty Ride (all of these seem suitable for younger children but best to check online for more details),
Spinball Whizzer, Oblivion, Hex, Runaway Mine Train, Duel, Blade, Air (may have replaced Nemesis from the original line up detailed online, as Nemesis isn’t listed on the map)
Various food and drink outlets are also open.
We provided our email confirmation on entry and they gave us our tickets for that day. As they were still ‘updating systems’ they couldn’t provide the tickets for the 2nd day, so we had to collect them from Advanced Ticket booking(inside the park near the entrance) later in the day. They didn’t state any restrictions (though the ticket indicates ‘restrictions apply’).

EDIT :
Sorry - I can't confirm the 'bigger rides' were accurate, as we kept to the ones for the youngsters. The park was open 10:00 to 16:00
