i think thats what is known as humour...
probably is a good deal but whilst the accident is fresh in peoples minds expect comments and less heat than usual
I think everyone can appreciate it was an unfortunate incident and should never have happened. However, to criticise a deal plainly because it involves Alton Towers is odd. Clearly unlike some, I have posted this deal without the aim for as much 'heat' as possible. If what I found is beneficial to one person, that's good enough for me. To me it is a good deal, hence I have booked it myself.
i think its way more odd not to expect criticism of a deal involving a place which very recently experienced a preventable accident!
If people choose not to visit again because of that, it is their choice. How can you say I do not accept that? The original comment did not elaborate to the reason for it being 'mad' to post the deal.
where do i say you dont accept that?
i say its very obvious that it would happen so no need to elaborate on any reason or get made about it

Does anyone know any additional discount codes for alton towers hotel for October? keep checking the net no joy
Not seen one, though with Scarefest being on, in previous years they have reduced prices for October at the last minute. No guarantee this year, although it does definitely seem that booking early is not always beneficial.

Checked the site whilst at Alton Towers and a room had become available tonight! Too late, great day out again - probably the safest time to go with extra security checks done on all equipment and staff very cautious.
Yes there is one available for tonight, a shame it was too late! Yes, I totally agree re: safety. :)

sorry but I voted cold, this is just a poor pr stunt. I carnt wait to hear in the news about the massive pay out they will have for the poor people who were badly injured.
Sadly they won't have to pay a penny. The insurance company will foot the bill and Alton towers will be free to carry on ripping people off whilst cutting corners where health and safety is concerned.

I'm sure there is a high Excess Fee in an accident of this nature. So they Will Pay.

Nar your ok.I'll swerve this deal.should be free to get in for a while to entice people back. There reputation is already tarnished im afraid
Why is everyone making such a massive deal over what's happened, nobody has actually been killed.Yes it's not good for the poor sods who were hurt but the fact is accidents happen no matter how much money is spent, technology fails to do what it's meant to,that's life and the risk that everyone takes.
Also humans make mistakes,I wonder how many people have died over the years traveling to Alton towers in a car due to a mechanical failure or human error ?
If what had happened had happend in a car it wouldn't have even made the news anywhere, and it makes me laugh how every man and his dog that knows anyone who was on that ride that day is now coming out the woodwork to wish them well, but that's only because they are hoping there tweet or Facebook message will be made public in the press.
As for the free tickets,if they didn't give anything away people would probably moan that it's wrong they ain't doing anything to say sorry to people.
I will certainly be going back to Alton towers as I'm cleaver enough to understand that there is a risk with everything I do and I've got more to worry about walking along the pavement than I have going to a theme park.
What's annoyed me is finding out that the emergency services weren't rang immediately once this had happened. It was such a difficult rescue anyway so any extra time they could have saved may have been vital. The 17 year old girl involved in this has had to have her leg amputated. You're right to suggest that accidents happen all the time, however it doesn't sit well to learn of these circumstances surrounding this one.
And that's the human error part, you can't hold the whole of the merlin group responsible for the wrong doings of the old person.
It was only a few weeks ago some mad man decided he was going to ditch the plane he was flying full of passengers, not the airlines fault.
It's not human error to not call the emergency services. It's incompetence, or poor training. Both of which are the responsibility of the company.
An intentional plane crash cannot be compared to an unintentional theme park crash, unless you're a bit simple.

The emergency services were called,we do not know if it was error by the staff to why it took 11 minutes as it could well be there is a list of things to do/check before a call is made,

IF it was caused by human error I can't see how directly the company can be at fault if it's proven that adequate training has been given to that member of staff, the fault then falls at the feet of the individual that was not doing their job,and no amount of training can make someone do their job correctly if they decide they don't want to do it correctly.

I don't think there is any need to suggest that I'm simple because of the comparison I made. The point I was making about the pilot was that even with all their training a company can't stop members of staff not doing their job as they have been trained,be it ditching a plane or not paying attention on what a roller coaster is doing.

Products are readily available between January & July 2015 with vouchers valid until 30 June 2016.
Kelloggs site states June http://grownupsgofree.kelloggs.co.uk/terms_conditions.html TERMS & CONDITIONS VOUCHER EXPIRY 30.06.15
But regardless June or July this is all season round :)

The vouchers that were on packs last year expire June 2015, the ones on current packs expire June 2016.
The only exception is the London eye which expires on 3rd April 2015.
The full T&c's can be seen at http://www.kelloggs.co.uk/promotions.
Thus this is all year round and is cheaper.

Alton Towers hotel Explorer room 2adults & 3child

Check in after 3pm Fri & Check Out by 10am Sat (pack your swimmers separately)
Access to the water park Sat 9-6pm - wristband so you can go in and out
Access to Sea Life 10-2pm

How old are your kiddies? I tried booking for 5, 9, 10 yr olds and 2 adults but was told (on the phone) it's £160 for the bigger room.
4,5,7 but apparently I got the last room available for that weekend - I was then quoted more for other options if I did not book over the phone. Bit the bullet and booked awaiting the wrath if I had not ensured it was a free weekend from my significant other <3
My son get's a certificate as it is his birthday - may not be much but he will be well chuffed

Its always half price for military and I'm sure 180,000 squaddies will not be too excited about going to Alton towers too much.

A theme park is kinda lame when you get paid to play with some of the toys our military have access to like tanks, APCs, helos etc. Not to mention the free travel all over the world.

Went today, the app was great for discount on the overpriced food, but useless for the ride queue times. It wasn't updated and was incorrect all day, showing 15 mins but when you arrive at the entrance of the ride it was more like 45 mins.
IlesKevinPC
Was there yesterday, Queued for 40 mins for the smiler, the rest of the coasters were < 15 mins queue. Some like oblivion were literally just walk on.. It was lush!

No fast passes required, and we did everything with hours of time over.

Plus with this app which i only downloaded to track the queue times and magically found the discounts saved us £8 on burgers and £2 on doughnuts :)

I love theme parks but hate Merlin - £10 to fast track on to Smiler! It's an OK ride but nothing spectacular.

Yea it's a rip off, the biggest gripe I have is the £6.00 to park, daylight robbery. Kids enjoyed CBeebies land though.

The car park charge would only be justifiable if they agreed to fund a new access road (which the local authority wants).

The traffic can be terrible for us locals

Yep, when we have bought passes on line you need to get the pictures taken on your first visit and the expiry date is always 1 year from the date of the picture

marion32 is correct. I personally checked this as well with Merlin CS. Pass starts from the date of collection and you can collect within 6 months period and tbh even later as long as you have a valid excuse!

Your pass starts from the day of purchase not day of first visit ,still hot from me

incorrect actually.

your pass starts from when you collect it.

you have 6 months from when you order online to collect.

the day you collect the pass from your chosen attraction is when the 12 months actually starts.

i only know this because i asked this exact question over the phone to Merlin.

What a rip off. Don't like Alton towers at all. Large Q's and you have to walk for miles. Much better to get a cheap Travelodge in Blackpool where you can go to Pleasure beach where ride tickets are far cheaper and you have got the lights. Also everything in the one area so you don't have to walk miles between rides. That would be far more enjoyable.Sorry voted cold for me.

They had the exact same deal last year. You'll miss the halloween stuff as that stuff kicks off after the deal ends.

Just took a shoulder bag with a spare set of clothes in and carried it round the park when we left the hotel.

Walked onto every single ride (even was allowed to ride the oblivion twice in a row as the queue was dead). Didn't ride the water rides as it was too cold and had to get a train home after.

Hotel is not too bad. Nice buffet breakfast and the buffet restaurant isn't too bad

Its well worth it as just a ticket on its own for 2 is close to £99.
PICNIC
what about some further discount for those with merlin pass? after all I wouldn't need the tickets in this offer if I have an annual pass already.

I can't help but laugh. Anyone who thinks a Travelodge in Blackpool could be a deal (even at 65p a night) must be crazy.

They are atrocious dives at the best of times, but in Blackpool you won't get a minutes sleep for banging doors, banging beds, banging walls and shouting/screaming stag and hen do's.

As for this Alton Towers deal? I think it's warm enough, but it's a 1 day visit with a drive either side for me. I've camped nearby before and that was the really fun bit. If you're coming a long way or want a more convenient stay then this is hot!

Matt

You have it spot on. Alton Towers is aimed squarely at families ( Under 4's go free at Alton Towers whereas Blackpool charges FULL price for 2 year old and up!! )....Blackpool is aimed at a completely different sector. Young, loud and rowdy, which is fair enough and good luck to them.

My view... the more people that go to Blackpool and its concrete mess.. where they charge you £6 just to walk through the Pleasure Beach... the better. It leaves more room elsewhere for those that don't want what it offers....

I did this deal last year. The splash landings hotel is lovely plus i have free sun tickets for this period. Result. Heat added.

I tried to call up and was told that for 2 adults, 1 child and 1 infant - 3nights on 14th Oct with park and swim tickets £650. Saving of around £50 on the online deal. Not a very good discount!
scottishgirl87
I've just booked the above mentioned deal and got £65 for the hotel with bed and breakfast and £46 park entry for 2 with a 2 for 1 voucher so £106 instead of £139 for exactly the same thing!

thatll work out £90 a night and then just do the BOGOF on tickets for around £20 per ticket. So overall itll be about £130 (£10 cheaper) but about £50 cheaper on 2 nights as you can get a bounceback for under £10 to go to the park the next day and also this is valid on Saturday nights!

With the buy 1 get 1 free & half price Alton charge u gate price at £47 so this is a good offer as we went 2 weeks ago with buy 1 get 1 free cost us £92 for 4 of us so this deal saves u a tiny bit more x

Pretty sure even if the gate price is £47, a BOGOF deal would make that £23.50 per person, cheaper than the £25 offered here.

These BOGOF deals are available all year round and readily available.

Anyone who pays full ticket price is frankly an idiot.

No availability on any of the dates in the deal - only available for other dates at the standard price of £175...looks like its sold out/expired. Shame as it would have been a good deal.

Says no availability for the 15th, Also worth noting the park is closed from the 10th.

Also if you can get a 'Pink Ring' (oh er Mrs) then you won't need to queue as much for anything, a friend with us (45) did the kids Karaoke and won one for the day, though he then went on the Master Blaster and came off the 'Pink Ring' cos his trunks were coming off and they had to stop the whole ride and walk him out the tube!!!!

buckfast67uk
You can also pick up annual passes in exchange for Tesco club card points £50 per pass I think, however they are the non-premium cards
dlawless
I renewed in April and was asked to show old cards when picking up new ones at Chessington.
indie24
Do they ask for anything when you go to pick these up such as your old card etc?
sherry4283
We couldn't afford in the January sale as money was all tied up from Christmas, but got them discounted for 25 or 30% off in April. Worth keeping an eye out

And you can go back the next day for a £5, might be useful to someone

A family of 4 is only £48 (or 3 is £36) anyway and that includes weekends. It is better to pay the extra and go when it will be less busy in my opinion....
