Today I found a wall mountable can crusher & bottle opener for £1.99, been looking for one of these, good for recycling...
they are selling for half price - originally £3.99 - instore only.
I have seen these online for over £10.

And yes it does larger cans (500ml)

In my area we have to take the cans, bottles, cardboard......to the recycle bins ourselves, so less space = less trips

I can flatten card, and can now crush my cans, I will avoid glass & plastic bottles now......
#5
Standing on a can works too. Although I can imagine there is a slight health and safety issue.

Makes it more fun when you can crush things! :-D Although, I must admit after the 4th crushing, my interest in the product would start to fade.:giggle: ... boredom would set in!
#7
Thanks,

I was looking for something like this.
#8
Handy for my missus I suppose (when I get in late & drunk)....don't think I'll be telling her about this deal though.

Little animals and beasties are less likely to injure themselves on the sharp edges  unless you recycle them obviously

this looks fun!
#11
Sounds good, but recycling pick ups in our area insist the cans stay whole and uncrushed - so useless somewhat for me....

Yup, Voted hot though as it is cheap, And crushing using this device won't take as much effort, Although jumping on a can to flatten it is much more fun!, like throwing glass bottles into the recycling container, Not gently placing then in! :giggle:
#13
looks like it will only fit the smaller cans (can anyone confirm please?) so i'm guessing not much good for beer can's unfortunately

Do you not crush them by hand and then wipe the beer from your mouth with the back of your other hand like a real man ;-)

My Carlsberg Special Brew cans usually have sharp edges, after i've shot them with my .22 air gun

Yeah, I'm sure it affects your health and shortens your lifespan. :?

Voted cold as I can do it for free right now and don't need to go and buy something to do it!

Nope, you split a can it's like a razor blade. Some idiot decides to stamp on a can with some flipflops on or God forbid, socks and slices into his feet, the government would look abit silly if they were encouraging people do this. Personally I don't give a damn, I'll stamp away.
#19
If someone uses flipflops then he's an idiot, I just (well, housemate did as I lined them up for him) stamped on a load to fit more stuff in the recycling box for collection tomorrow morning.

lol and thats BEFORE I have a drink.
#21
Ive always wanted one of those since i was little... although that was before i was heavy enough to just stomp on them... now i think thats more fun :)
#22
Anyone wanna make a video of doing it with a full can?

Blimey they don't want much these days, they'll want you to deliver it to them soon !.

I always try to smash them when I put them in too :giggle:

I await in exciting anticipation.
#26
Why don't you just tread on the middle of a can with your heel, this folds the ends slightly inwards, then you flatten the ends down with your foot....end result is one flat can and it makes this piece of kit totally unnecessary.:whistling:

Voted cold...sorry

Uhhh ... idea of HUKD - If its a bargain vote hot or don't vote. If you know a better deal, tell us. Otherwise, get a life, find a chatroom to show how clever you are or to posture - or just keep schtum.

Most of this string has been self-serving garbage and your comments are irrelevant. This seems to have become a problem lately. People will stop posting bargains if you keep spouting such nonsense, so grow up before you screw up the site.

It looks very much like the same one I have (that cost me over £10) if it is it will take full size beer cans, even the John Smiths ones that are a little taller because of the widget!

You are a downright fool. People are having a laugh with each other you twit, is that not allowed anyone? Must everyone conform to strictly enforced rules, were any chat not relating to wether it's a bargain or not is deleted?

Get over it.

Your opinion of me is about as interesting to me as the other irrelevant opinions on this thread. I'll keep my opinion of you to myself, but I'm surprised you can type one handed.
#31
I reckon this might be a handy bit of kit, u can tell the other half that its exercise...
#32
Useful, after watching Dumped its about time people in the UK started thinking conciously about their waste.

Stora can type with one arm, what do you expect after wiping yourself with a bear?

I heard that the Dumped set was a specially created 'artificial dump', so the program defeats itself - i mean, who finds food in a dump??? If my local gypsies found out where it was (i.e. had enough intelligence to read a map) that place would be inundated with squatters

Incidentally, the op can have some rep!

Does anyone know what the beef is with that? Can they not be recycled when they are crushed down lol? Do they need them uncrushed to identify the steel from the aluminium cans?

Whilst your method does create a flat can, it also creates 4 very sharp creased/broken aluminium corners. If you crush the can in a concertina fashion you don't get the sharp points and you can carry lots of them in a carrier bag without slashing the bag or anything else.

Nifty gadget,if it helps people recycle more than thats only a good thing.
