Just bought the Lenovo P2 and I'm struggling to get a nice case (not a lot of choice out there). The pros of this deal:
-Aluminium, so less issue with heating (you want to protect that 5,100 mAh battery from heat!).
-Lots of positive reviews of this item, and the seller has a good reputation.
-You can make a purchase using PayPal (unusual for AliExpress), though you will pay a little more for this (£2.98 in total). Although plenty of people feel confident giving their card details on Ali, I feel much better using PayPal.
-Four colours to choose from (grey/black, silver, gold, rose gold).
-Free delivery.

Mine hasn’t arrived yet so I’m not able to provide any feedback personally. But for under £3 delivered, you can’t really go wrong. Only downside is a potentially long wait for delivery.

Now if only I could find a tempered glass screen protector that fits the curved screen properly...

Ordered from Ali express before; goods never arrived; did get my money back; but that's not the point, is it?

AliExpress is like Ebay. Just because you have a bad experience with one seller, does not mean the whole site is useless. Like Ebay, you look at feedback. There are (at present) 202 orders that have been made for this item, and 122 pieces of feedback, the majority of which are 4 or 5 star. The seller has been trading for 2 years and has 96.3% positive feedback for about 4.5k orders sold.

Cases like this will ravage phone signal as well as adding minimal drop protection, since they don't absorb much impact. Not worth it in my opinion - just buy a TPU or plastic case.

Some reduction in signal is always an issue with aluminium cases, but apparently not so bad. I don’t like the look of plastic cases nor the fact that they are insulators, hence heating up the battery (the number 1 killer of batteries). You’re perhaps going to say it doesn’t have a meaningful impact on temperature, but there is plenty of talk online that it does. I’ve already ordered a cheap gel case too, anyway, and will play it by ear.

I have ordered one and arrived in 10 days. Aliexpress is very good for such stuff. It is not bad quality case and I did not notice a signal drop. BUT, it makes the phone much larger and as such I cannot recommend it.

I used loads of these in the past - always hopeful that I just got a bad one. Every time the signal discernibly dropped when applying the case.

Surely if you are worried about heat then adding a case that makes the phone have to work harder to pull in a signal will mean that the phone itself heats up more anyway?

Depends on how much of a signal drop there is. YiannisF noted no signal drop, so maybe it might be ok. I ordered a gel case, a plastic flip case, and this aluminium one. So we’ll see how my P2 gets on with each.

I still think this aluminium case is a bargain for the price, but hey...

I think it's next to impossible for there not to be a signal drop but I guess you'll have to assess how much it bothers you. Worth doing an experiment though - go somewhere with very poor signal without a case, then put the case on and see what happens.

Looks extremely similar to this case, which doesn't seem to have great reviews re quality or signal. I know it's an iPhone but the principle is the same. LINK

I’m sorry, but that’s not good logic. Have you even read those reviews? The most common complaints are that it comes all scratched up and doesn’t fit. Signal is mentioned, but it is not the main issue people are complaining about. Read the reviews of the item I posted - next to NOBODY has those complaints in the 79 pieces of feedback the item has received. Just because you think it looks visually similar doesn't therefore mean that every aluminium phone case was made in the same factory in China by the same manufacturer and has the same faults.

I'm mainly going on previous experience - many of these people might not have been in a scenario where they have noticed but the fact that it is mentioned at all is a bad sign.

Just looked at the linked page and one of the early reviews talks about the signal being reduced, so it looks like this case isn't any sort of new design. A lot of people might not mention this because they don't notice (not everyone lives or commutes to a low signal area or uses their phone far away from their WiFi) or because they don't use the case long enough to notice. As I said though, one person mentioning it is enough, as it surely isn't going to be an issue exclusive to one person, so unless they're lying I don't see why it would matter if not many people mention it.

I'd be intrigued to know if Android Pay still works as well with this case on, as I've not used NFC payment since I last tried an aluminium case.

Always nice to get another option for a case as there ain't many out there. Heat!
