Morrisons do their own Amaretto for £6.99 for 750ml bottle making slightly cheaper per ml... That's the standard price too so cold from me... sorry

Newbie troll alert!

Fancy going to the bother of signing up for a new account just to post that! :-(

I can't vouch for the Aldi one but Lidl sell a 75cl bottle for £7 which when mixed tastes exactly the same as Disaronno to me.

It'll do nicely to make amaretto, vanilla schnapps and champagne cocktails. :p

I disagree with it tasting exactly like Disaronno (possibly when it's mixed with something). I can definitely taste the difference. But Disaronno is a rip off :)

I can't drink coffee anymore without putting Amaretto or Tia Maria in it :)
I've tried all the versions of Amaretto and they all taste great with coffee or diet coke. the Aldi one whilst a smaller bottle than Morrisons is a better size for putting in your handbag and taking to the pub to sneak into your drink (Of course I wouldn''t do that...but others may want to). Incidentally has the Morrisons 70cl gone up from £5.99 to £6.99 someone on here says. That's a bit of a jump cheeky devils

I love this drink, a bit girly but still nice

on another Amaretto / Tia Maria / Aldi note. Also from this Thursday are the 89p travel sweets. I bought some Tia Maria ones months ago and recently opened up the pot. They are REALLLLLY nice. Didn't notice whether they also do amarettio flavour but I shall definetly be stocking up on some this weekend. Much nicer than the regular sour / cherry / tropical standard flavours that everyone sells

Awful pun, good deal.

Sadly I live nowhere near an Aldi..

False Economy. Disaranno, has more alcohol content. :-)

Usually find that the cheaper makes, like this are less alcoholic ( no good for me lol;))

I've tried the Lidl one and it's almost as good as the real thing.

Drink it with cranberry jusice, crushed ice and a good slice of lime. Fantastic.

False premise. Brands are usually a rip off.

They are all low strength for a liqueur, but if it's just alcoholic strength you are basing this one, then anything above about 9% would make the cheaper one better value, as the brand is MORE than 3 times the price, @ £16.68 for a 50cl bottle from a quick scan!

I don't know the exact strength of this one, but the LIdl own brand one I have here IS 28% and it's also WAY cheaper than the brand, although I don't know the exact current price!

There's a little more to judging value than from it's strength though, and while the alternatives are a little different to the brand, as we have found out in recent years, different does not necessarily mean worse, in fact most brands are frequently NOT anything special at all, and the bargain supermarkets have beaten many brands comprehensively - taste tests often make fools out of those that stand by brands, with some being undistinguishable even to mainstream supermarket "value! brands.

You aren't going to be very much use to either yourself or anyone else here on this site, if that's how you judge value, there's not much scope for someone who thinks that getting a bargain means just buying the dearest product on the market! :-(

I also find it strange the sheer number of trolls that are newly subscribed to this site lately! :-(

Never tasted this version, but bought another one last year, hard to drink not as good as Disaronno IMHO, think I'll stick with the real thing, but still hot for its price

hmmm might just have to do that now you've said that. I have a bottle of Disaronno but haven't tried a cheapy brand, for £4.99 i will have to try it next time.

Any other recipe ideas? ;)

You must have bought a poor one. The one that Lidl usually sells is near-identical to the real stuff. I'm sure the alcohol content is the same too (around 30%).

I can't remember the name of it but it has a black label and a large top which isn't square but not too disimilar to the Disaronno one.

Edit*:
I've just looked around and it is called Armilar Amaretto and it's 28%. Here's a picture of the very stuff.......
