Many thanks,
Glad to hear you had such a fab time. I'm off on the same trip in a week (swine flu permitting!!) any tips???? :-D
How did you get on with this???? Our added on Paris - London leg was a disaster, wouldn't let us on the plane saying we didn't have tickets on the system, even though our luggage was on and we had boarding passes!!! Air France wanted £600 EACH to fly us home ECONOMY!!! on the next flight!!!!! Ended up stranded in the (by then closed terminal 2e) airport overnight for 17 hrs (did get a cheap dodgy hotel in the end out of desperation but waste of money as so worried didn't sleep a wink, was up at 4 and on the phone to Expedia who told us not their prob, we'd have to make our own way home), both our cases got lost in the confusion (they were found 12 hours later) on top of already travelling over 20 hours and adjusting to 8 hrs time difference this was a really nasty and stressful nightmare. France has never seemed so far away before.
In the process of complaining and demanding compensation from Air France, at the very least for the phone calls to Expedia in Australia trying to get it sorted - 4 or 5 calls from UK mobile in Paris to Australia - £47, and the cost of the hotel and meals etc.
Is this unreasonable considering the peanuts we paid for the flights (£270)?? Personally I don't think so, as the cheap flights were their mess up, and I bought them because they were cheap, could never have afforded to pay full price.........
Have never been so glad to finally return home from a holiday!!!
When I booked the flights they were going direct to London but soon changed to via Paris. As I say just back and no problems at all. I printed off all the confirmation emails and reservation codes and also a print out from here
http://www.checkmytrip.com
which is linked to the airline reservation system not that i needed any of them. I was able to check in online, bags tagged from LA all the way back to London. All in all a smooth and hassle free journey back to blighty! Top Marks!!
This was my second trip courtesy of this deal so many thanks again to the OP, Two great holidays!
Expedia have now admitted someone slipped up and have traced it back and it seems it was the fault of the trainee that checked us in at LAX, she should have been supervised and wasn't. Looks like she messed up and despite booking 2 seats didn't actually issue our tickets on the system for that leg of the booking (or something like that) Expedia are now dealing with it........................
Had to go via Amsterdam on the way out (connection was ok even though we only had an hour changeover) and direct from NY to Heathrow on the way back. We were on an Air France (although it was really a Delta airlines) flight, flying across the Atlantic the same night as the other doomed flight so that shook us up a bit but obviously we made it back, unlike the other flight sadly!!! We did experience a fair bit of turbelence just after takeoff too!
We did run into a few problems though, both in check-in on the outbound flight at Heathrow and subsequent check-in for the return flight at JFK. We couldn't do online check-in at all - said there were some problems with the "details" of one of the passengers, namely me! I suspect this was to do with some miskeying on the part of Expedia in Oz. We got there in the end though after some fiddling at both ends by the check-in people but that did worry me that we weren't going to be let on the flights for a bit!!!

Exactly the same on the way back from New York. Checked in manually by clerk, as machine did not read booking (despite confirming flight that morning). Got boarding passes, and we were stopped as we went to board the plane. we were told that booking did not exist, despite the fact I had confirmed flight with air chance that morning. We were taken back to the Delta / Air france desk where after a lot of messing and doubt, we were checked on to on of our original flight schedules direct to LHR ( on the same seats in fact). We left our luggage on the Air France plane to be offloaded, and it got back to us about 3 days later. Personally i think it was Air France at fault as they did have the booking confirmed on the checkmy trip / Amadeus booking system - that said it was all very weird.
Thought about complaining but after an initial scare got back fine!! best of luck and let me know how you get on,.
