i recently got this monitor from pixmania (http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/1690616/art/samsung/syncmaster-2443bw-24-wide.html). It's £214, but frankly i would recomend buying from anywhere else, Pixmania are awful - i only got it from there because i had a lot of store credit after my last 24" monitor failed under warranty.

anyhow - the monitor itself is *incredible*. i love it. The colour is crisp, it looks perfect for watching BluRays on, the design is very nice. The screen pivots, so you can set it up in portrait mode. The height adjustment on the monitor is fairly crude, but it works, so i can't fault it for that. And it is so lightweight, i could barely believe how little it weighs compared to my last one. All in all, i am very happy with this monitor. and at £235 with a 3 year onsite warranty, i reckon this is a fine bargain.

I wouldn't have called the spec amazing, it's a TN panel so you've got poor viewing angles, it'll only display 6-bit colour and use dithering to get to 8-bit and a 5ms TN (assuming it's tr/tf) is the slowest panel type on the market today.

At least it's apparently sRGB and not wide gamut though.

It looks like a reasonable price for a cheap adjustable large screen if you don't mind samsung though.

EDIT: For a better quality alternative you could spend a bit more on something like an HP LP2275w.

Well, from where i'm sitting, i would imagine one of the biggest reasons sopmeone would get this monitor is in order to have a 24" monitor, and correspondingly, a 1080p capable display (certainly for me). So comparing it to a smaller, more expensive screen seems somewhat pointless. to me anyhow.

As for the small viewing angles, again, from where i'm sitting, they don't seem at all bad (incidentally, where i'm sitting is off toi an angle from the screen, in order to test out the viewing angles).

one thing i would say - i hate the touch sensitive buttons on the monitor - i hate them on my phone, and i hate them on my monitor. but i don't have to use them much, so i cope.
