Same here too, but didn't like the idea of playing in different time zones to the majority of the players, was very happy when the rumours starting appearing about the europe release, and glad they've finally been confirmed.

Like the look of this special edition too, definately a game worthy of being bought alongside a strategy guide!

Heat from me

No. The reason this one is a better deal is because you get a strategy guide too:thumbsup:

How can u be sure of that though? Yes the picture indicates there is a book...but product info doesnt say so. If i go by the product info on shopto, then it doesnt have an official strategy guide.
As its not a clear confirmation, i dont see it being a HOT deal.
#16
Just had a look at the review on Gamespot. Hotted and ordered...
#17
Great stuff - just made my pre-order

EDIT: With regards to guides, artbooks, CDs and what is/is not included, I would expect all to become clear tomorrow when the official release announcement will be made. In the meantime, just pop a pre-order in with both Shopto and Amazon, and wait to see which company is actually going to supply what you want (then cancel the surplus order). As the official release has not yet been announced, I would expect to see some pricing fluctuations for the various editions of the game, so having an early pre-order in at this price may prove to be very worthwhile.

The image of demon's souls on shopto does not show a guide book and it is not described as having one. They are two different stock photos.

Better sell my copy quick, I really disliked this game and haven't played it for months.
#20
has it been announced or did i miss something?
according to this its officially being announced tomorrow.

Yes, challenging is one thing but spending an hour in a dungeon then getting killed in one shot and having to do everything again is not fun at all.
#25
Not heard of this ame before - time to do some googling ...

That is the reason why Sony very nearly didn't release it in the UK, coz too many people just wouldn't appreciate that its all about replaying sections over and over again. It is not a level progressing or story telling game - its an online world, you're supposed to hang around and grind and revisit places, etc...
#27
This I know, you get to be very familiar with level 1:1, 1:2, 2:1 and 3:1. I gave it a really good go, even beat 4 bosses but it was just too much punishment and boring grinding in the end. No other game is as harsh as to take away all your experience then only give you one chance to get it back, from the exact area where the thing that killed you the last time was while respawning everything between you and it! Plus you being able to die from a few hits from low level grunts, no matter how much you've levelled!

I was thinking of doing this but I guess my save file may not work with the EU release, only guessing as I do not know.

Very Very hot! I've been watching and wanting this game for aaaages! I just wish release wasn't in june :(
#30

thats what i heard , just to tough to be any fun , people only go on about it becuase they cant get it , once it becomes available to everyone , no ones going to give a **** and everyone will be saying its crap and to hard
#33
I have finished this game, in fact after finishing the game , I started again with my character at higher difficulty and skills rang, because its that good. I've never been so engrossed in a game.

Hard ? Not really, challenging yes, but take your time, learn to use the shield and work with other players who are blue phantoms to help you.

The Atmophere in this game is incredible also. Its simply amazing that this game was made by Japanese people, but feels like some dark european fantasy inspired from some fairy tale kingdom. Even the acting is top notch, with not an american accent in sight, but all English and some Scotish.

Truly a gem that went over the radar for Sony.

They can get it, the PS3 is multi-region and its all over ebay and elsewhere. It was Gamespots game of the year for a reason. I do think it will go over the heads of a lot of people raised on generic space marine titles and hand holding fps games though.

Totally true. I've also finished it and I didn't use any assistance from other players, plus I'm not the best player in the world just take it slowly and read the wiki. Some levels I only died maybe once or twice. Also some levels have short-cuts so you don't have to repeat much of the level.
Have to say that NG+ is tough....dam you flame lurker

i know but i bet it aint cheap , it was probably voted game of the year by some pompous **** who thinks it makes him look good becuase he * gets it * when in reality its just a hard game

Read the reviews on Amazon : http://www.amazon.com/Demons-Souls-Playstation-3/dp/B002AB7TX8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1271377961&sr=1-1

For me it was certainly a contender for GotY but Uncharted 2 (just) clinched it. Batman AA which has also been GotY for some people was also good but for me didn't have the replay value whilst this has it in spades.
Get past the first level which is the hardest and you will be hooked, BUT there is a far amount of grinding especially if you want that elusive Platinum.

IMO.

Keep your rubbish to yourself please you've not even played the game. Yes it can be hard yes its challenging once you pass that learning curve game is really enjoyable. This is not a game for everyone (ones who cant be bothered to block then moan) but I suggest watching some walkthroughs and see what the game offers.

The Press Release is out now, so here it is for those that want to read.

LYON, FRANCE – 16 April 2010 – NAMCO BANDAI Partners S.A.S., one of the video game industry's leading distribution, marketing and sales companies, today announced an agreement with renowned Japanese publisher Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) for the distribution of the acclaimed action RPG title Demon’s Souls across the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions. Following its release in Japan and North America where it garnered high praise from media and a loyal audience of fans, the PlayStation®3 (PS3™) game will belaunched on June 25, 2010 as an exclusive European limited edition retail pack containing the soundtrack CD, a new artbook and brand new strategy guide.

“We’re very pleased to be working with SCEI to bring the fantastic Demon’s Souls to gamers outside of Japan and North America,” said Olivier Comte, VP Marketing, Sales & Publishing NAMCO BANDAI Partners S.A.S. “The game is exactly the kind of quality experience with which we are continuing to grow the NAMCO BANDAI Games portfolio of titles, and we will be working hard to ensure it’s at least as much of a success in our markets as it has already proven to be elsewhere.”

Beautiful, compelling, and unforgiving, Demon's Souls is one of the hardcore RPG experience PS3 owners have been waiting for since the platform's launch.

Revolutionary online features support your adventure like never before, presenting seamless interconnectivity that serves in every instance to enhance the single-player game. Team up with other players in simultaneous cooperative play, working together to topple some of the game's colossal bosses, or force your way into the games of skilled players and challenge them to PvP battle.

Leave hints and clues for those who will follow in your footsteps; either intentionally or through your own inadvertent demise, your bloodstains will allow your successors to view a replay of your death, hinting at how to avoid your gruesome fate. Unprecedented in its depth and subtlety, peerless in its relentlessly challenging gameplay, Demon's Souls is the ultimate action RPG.

UK website Eurogamer.net awarded the title a resounding 9 out of 10 - "absolutely compelling; dark, detailed, unforgiving, creatively cruel," and adding, "You can learn to love Demon's Souls like few other games in the world."

Gamespot awarded the game ‘Game of the Year 2009’ - “Brutally challenging and utterly engrossing, this innovative role-playing game is one of the year’s best.”

Featuring the game, a brand new hardback artbook filled with mesmerizing concept and game art images, a new strategy guide, plus the deeply atmospheric original soundtrack of the game on CD, the limited edition retail pack of Demon’s Souls is coming exclusively to EMEA and Asia Pacific on June 25, 2010, only for PS3. The European limited launch of Demon’s Soul’s can be pre ordered now from Play.com, Game.co.uk, HMV.co.uk and other leading retailers whilst stocks last.
