Or more likely, Amazon are worried sales will slow down, when Google release there own version, at a lower price on March 28th.

I like the fact Amazon's had to price match their own item :D

I've got two Dots and they are great. I mainly use them to provide Spotify connections to decent HiFi or as a bluetooth receiver/sender. A crap bluetooth receiver costs similar and the Dot offers other bonus. I have to say I think Dot is better value then main echo if you have good HiFi or bluetooth speaker. Most reviewers say the same. Either way I wouldn't buy the main echo now google home is coming...better AI and better speaker too. The Dot is still a good buy as neither echo or home has 3.5mm out and it probably £100 ash cheaper. I've also had not issues with connection. I even shout at it from two rooms away when using to cast Spotify to bluetooth speaker in bathroom.

Did you get the DOT1 or DOT2, the 2 is supposed to improve on the 1.

2...as far as I was aware they only launched version 2 of the DOT in the UK? Did you import your 1?

A much better product all-round IMO...
A better speaker, conversational speech and no ties to the Amazon ecosystem (although IFTTT gets around most of that).

I haven't got one, but when I was reading up on them when considering it, I just remember seeing that.

There's a new echo on its way so I would wait a bit

I have 2 dots both set up to answer voice controls on, TV, HI-FI and Xbox as an added bonus attach two small cheap Bluetooth speakers, I stream radio etc. I like to experiment with them and see what you can do.
I would rather have the dot than the echo but good price if you want it. However students Don't get 10% off from what I can see

I too have a dot and it's great. the 3.5mm out is the selling point. A fantastic little gadget.

Any reason that this post has gone down to -103, but the Argos deal of the same price is 417?

Am I missing something?

Free delivery with Prime vs £3.95 for Argos also.

A friend wants one of these, so was just checking on his behalf before making the purchase.

Basically its just because the Argos one was first and this is just Amazon price matching to not lose custom. People often downvote Amazon deals when they do this.

I thought as much.
I'll go with the Amazon deal then, as I have Prime. Cheers.

This should not be -99 degrees. It's times like this when you realise the flaws of this site.
OK, it's 4p more expensive than the cheapest alternative and Amazon may have just price matched. But Amazon can deliver to my house/office guaranteed same/next day, and already have all my details... Sure a lot of people would buy from Amazon just for the convenience.
Argos deal is 400 degrees at the same price. I'd always rather buy from Amazon than Argos.
