Currently there's a deal with Quidco that you activate that will give you £10 cashback if you spend at certain stores. Argos is one of these stores, so combined with the currently reduced price on the Echo it brings the price down to £109.99.

Note the Quidco deal finishes as 23:59 today and only qualifies for purchases over £50 (excl VAT and delivery)

Personally it seems weird that you would buy something that listens to your conversations in your house.

All down to individual preference I guess. Personally I really like using mine. :)

And we have returned ours to Amazon. It just wasn't as fluid as they sell. Nearly ended up with a shed load of pizza after adding just-eat to the skills. oO

Do you talk about pizza a lot?

Is anyone really bothered about what we speak about in our own homes, I honestly couldn't give a toss who was listening.
Are you paranoid about who listens to your telephone conversations too?
If you like the Echo buy it, if you don't, don't.
For what it's worth I think it's a great bit of kit.

It doesn't... you have to wake it up before it listens... and when you do it is like teaching a 5 year old how to spell cat while they are watching adventure time...

Was looking at this as an wifi music option but was put off by the negative reviews concerning the lack of UK development vs the US version. Ended up ordering a Sonos 1, which, while not doing as much, seems to do what it does well.:{

not at all. thought it would be handy having the just-eat app working on the dot. however, it sort of went out of control and had to shut down rather promptly - perhaps alexa has a pizza fetish :D

Not quite right as they found it does listen without being woken up, hence the ban

There is a lot of advancement done, and coming, on the Sonos. You can join the beta program to help develop it if you are using OSX

If you have a smart phone you are carrying around a permanently internet connected microphone wherever you go.

The future is here! Quick!...run and hide

it's always listening for its name so it always on. As for the 'what are you worried for if you have nothing to hide brigade' would you mind the council putting cctv in your house? afterall, your not doing anything illegal so what have you got to hide?

That's a lot more extreme and therefore completely irrelevant. If you're worried about having someone 'listen in' on your conversations at home, don't get it.
Personally I think it's great and if Amazon are listening in on me, I think they'd get bored pretty quickly!

I think Amazon have way better techniques to farm your details then to filter through a load of **** conversations. I'd opt for the echo dot though, connect it to a speaker. Works out fair bit cheaper.

There is no need to be rude, just because you can't spell your own name - you missed out the U.
