Huh? All I can see in Basics are cables and blank media.
I don't think the Western Digital external hard drive you can see is anything to do with it!

Any idea what dye the discs use? (I doubt it'll be Taiyo Yuden, but you can hope... :D)
#4
Guess we'll find out when someone buys them and dissects them. I would bet something like CMC magnetics or whatever. Will be one of the cheaper ones.

Great find. ordered the 1tb western digital external hard drive for 62.99. The my book 1tb hard drive which I was going to get a xmas was £80 at play is now currently over £110 at play so this will work as a brillinat replacement. Massive heat and rep added.
Also got free next day delivery by signing up to amazon prime one month trial. perfect for the xmas present orders.
#6
dont seem like that good prices really and its not like quality can at all be assured considering the brand is not really known in the category of production? and its most lightly rebrand products that can be got cheaper.
#7
The HDMI cables seem expensive
#8
Not avaliable to next month
#9
Nothing special. Looks more like a marketing gimmick to me.
#10
Awesome. Dual layers and single layer prices are great. SO SO SO SO SO devastated that I've been playing £15 for 25 packs of duals for ages. Oh well, they worked.
#11
All cobblers, and all expensive.

Agree with Pet2000 ... its just a marketing gimmick

Voted cold

well having had a look at the comments for the dvd+dl on the US amazon,

"The critical question everyone should have on their mind - the manufacturer. Pretty simple to fire up DVD Identifier; and voila RicohJPND01, revision 067. "

which means theyre of top quality! sweeeet

The WD 1 TB harddrive is available at dixons for £63 with free delivery. Difference is that Dixons also do a 3% quidco cashback:thumbsup:

Not sure now you ask,
the title of the deal offers hard drives. the picture is of the western digital hdd that I bought as a direct result of this 'deal' so unless I'm mistaken I took it to be it's part of the deal.
But having read others postings it would seem as if the deal was just for dvdr's and cables so perhaps I was wrong and just so happened to see the link for the hdd from the page the deal links to.
Either way I still added heat and rep because without this link I would not have found the hdd at that price and it's what I wanted for christmas :santa:

Nice find. Rep added. Should have looked there first. Showing as sold out online though and have heard they can take weeks to restock.

They also have the 1tb my book for for £76.99 inc free delivery in stock

Oh well, it's arrived now so single day turnaround was nice touch. Guess I can't win them all

They do, so do the ethernet cables. they are selling 15m for £8 and their marketplace sellers do them for less than a fiver.

Expensive expensive expensive.

100 TDK branded DVDs @ WH Smiths are £14.
1tb external disk is expensive - there are cheaper equivlent quality drives around.

Its a rip off rebranded as a green rip off.

another amazon advert I see.

There isn't an Amazon Basics or Frustration Free-Packaging hard disk available. The one listed on that page is part of Amazon's overall top 10 electronics, it has nothing to do with Amazon Basics.

Amazon branded DVDs??!?

Does anyone know what dye these use? I really don't want to get crappy DVDs

Anyone trusting their data to those blank DVDRs (especially the +R) would need their head testing when for £5 or so extra you can get 100 proven discs from Verbatim www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3337505/Verbatim-43549-DVD-R-16x-4-7GB-100pk/Product.html or Amazon www.amazon.co.uk/Verbatim-43549-DVD-R-4-7GB-Pack/dp/B000BEZYLA/

HDD is fine as it'll be branded.

Strange line of accessories this but I'm sure they've got their reasons.

I wonder how good the DVD Dual Layer discs are.
Perhaps they can replace the Aone's i'm always buying :)

If they're worse than the aones, they must be REALLY bad!!!
#27
Yeah, the WD 1TB you guys are talking about has nothing to do with the deal.
Read the header of the box, it says 'Top Electronics & Photo'.

Go to the WD HD's page and try find 'Basics' — no matches found: it's not Amazon basics (a major clue is that it's branded Western Digital).

[sarcasm]
I suppose the iPod Touches in that list are Amazon Basics too?
[/sarcasm]

On a more serious note: anyone know why the 3 metre USB extension cable is 33p cheaper than the (otherwise exactly the same) 1 metre cable?

And re: disc quality, I would imagine the CDs and DVDs are of an acceptable quality considering Amazon have put their name on them.
#28
Aone dual layers are the worst. I guarantee that the data on Aone dual layers that you burn to will be corrupt within 2 years, they degrade SO FAST!

I've had Aones degrade within weeks!

£7.19 seems a good price for a 15m cat 5e cable.
No available for over 2 weeks though.

Exactly. This is at least 200 degrees hotter than it should be

Euh, why are you linking to a place where one can buy a 15m cat 5e cable for £8.49 delivered? :whistling:

Pointin out that you can get a cable cheaper elsewhere - i,e its not a great price. Ignoring postage - its the product price.

Maybe you can get the produce cheaper elsewhere but certainly not on the linked website... It's cheaper to get it form amazon.
It's not the listed price of the product that is important, it's the total price to the customer.

Out of curiosity, do you work for Ryanair in the marketing department? :)
