refferal spam according to mse
#2
It's my first post mate not familiar with how I should do things, I am NOT making anything from the link just go to amazon.co.uk instead, I just provided a direct link to the sale link I came across off the Amazon site itself.

I was browsing for the cheap calendars and annuals and noticed some of the toys had been price cut then came across the january deals so I regged here and posted it.

afaik hotukdeals survives by using refferal links for places like amazon. so that might be why its flagged up
#5
Not sure what it is but I am making no money from it and I got the link DIRECTLY from amazon.
At least you guys are polite about it, them sarky gits at MSE are getting both barrells he he.

Anyways, it has some decent price reducations in it on a few watches, I noticed as well on the top100 toys there are LOTS listed there that are reduced by 80% so just go via amazon.co.uk and navigate yourself to the deals:)

HUKD automatically put their own referral links in - when you click out, it is added. They will be getting 10% to directly linked items and 7.5% on everything else.

As to the sale, quite a bit of that stuff has been cheaper on amazon in the last few weeks / months anyway.
#8
Hmmm, can't see anything at lower prices than they have been any way...spent ages browsing amazon in recent weeks and I think it's mainly all just the same stuff at the same prices, shoved in a 'sale' section.
#9
not really a SALE
#10
Very poor on the gaming front.

Jesus! They make *that* much per sale? Owning HUKD must be a pretty lucrative business then, eh? And when you consider that all the 'work' is done by the sites visitors posting the deals here, rather than by any 'HUKD team', it reminds me of a phrase that includes the words money and old rope :whistling: .

theres no way any affiliate would get 10% from amazon, thats almost their profit margin caput!

not really a SALE

You are right, even Amazon don't say its a sale, the headline banner just says:
"January Deals—-Launching Early"
why is everyone voting it hot though - where are the great deals??? Nothing in my wish-list has changed price:x
#17
why is this gettin so much heat?

Yeah, apart from on electronics where things are capped at £7. When you think how many people click on links, they must make a fortune. And as the cookie lasts 24 hours, if you go back and buy again later, even if you don't go through HUKD, then they will be getting 7.5%.

If you buy a lot, it is worth getting someone else to sign up an associates account. When you buy something, you add their ID tag to the address, so they get the payment. Then they share it with you.

Check the Amazon associates page for yourself. I am an associate too, so I know.

If you sell 1601 things per month, you get 7.5% commission. If you link direct to the item, then you get an extra 2.5%.

Hmmmm, that depends on you allowing cookies from the sales site tho. I never do that as a matter of principle, and given what you've just said I think I might start typing the top level domain of deals in a new browser window too rather than clicking links in deal posts!

Correct. But how many people allow cookies? I reckon most people that use this site.

how does this have so much heat?!?!?! surely people can't think its that good of a sale, its porbably HDUK adding heat for their 5 - 10%. Its just regular prices rebranded as a sale really. Warm or cold IMO. But thanks for posting it for those who didnt know the sale was one.
#28
So much heat but seems warm at best to me, at least on the products i've looked at! Still thanks for posting always good to check!

Here's an example for you. I have a Star Wars fan site with a healthy membership. We direct linked to the Star Wars Vault book during October. We only sold 1580 odd items in October, so just missed out on the 7.5% rate, and got 7.0% instead. With the 2.5% bonus, we got 9.5% of every sale through the direct link.

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj194/bc-jacobs/ref1.jpg

But the real money comes when our visitors buy other items. We only ever advertise Star Wars items, and yet we regularly get commissions like this:

You can LOL as much as you like.
#30
This is fabricated heat, no way such a **** sale could get so hot naturally from members alone.
#32
It's funny, usually people are confused/annoyed by unexplainable cold votes, this is the first time I have seen it happen the other way around though lol

I am with every one else, there's nothing new in this 'sale' - they've just grouped together some things that have been dicounted for a while together. It shouldn't be over 1000 degrees!!

Voted Hot1 I just bought Bratz Movie Starz Movie-Making Set £17.99 down from £79.99! Even yesterday it was £24.99 so thanks OP.

Why the negative remarks folks?

New here, didn't realise money saving was such a bitchy hobby.

Ahhh a thank you. Warmed my heart, cheers OP glad the post was of use to one person at least:)
#37
How come this is voted hot?

So far I can't see much sign of any discounts over the norm of the last few days
Some items seem more expensive and some they link you to on their discount pages have a whole 3% off and are more than £20 cheaper elsewhere!!!

So if you do find a great deal please post the link.

Ahem...

Seems the regulars have their noses out of joint because a newbie posted a popular link. Seriously...sometimes I worry about the human race.

No bitchiness going on that I can see, several of us just finding it strange that this is heating up so quickly without anyone actually showing a real bargain yet!

do us a favour and read what people are saying. there would be more to worry about if all of the human race jumped to conclusions as easily as you!

EDIT: p.s. It's always good to see good deals, irrespective of who posts them. And if anything, newbies get more praise than others for finding them.
