AMAZON KINDLE WIFI EREADER WITH 6 INCH DISPLAY - REFURB £69.99 @ argos outlet ebay
Not a bad price if you are getting 12 months warranty. Looks like they have loads of these..
Refurbished products are all 100% OK! In fact, they represent amazing value for money, especially as we offer all our refurbished products with a full ONE YEAR warranty. These products may be classed as refurbished for a number of reasons:
They may have been previously sold, and subsequently returned to one of our parent stores and not put back on sale for cosmetic packaging reasons. This is often as little as a broken seal.
Alternatively, they may simply have incurred a minor amount of cosmetic packaging damage during handling in the day to day running of our business.
Some items may have been returned to our parent stores with a reported fault or where a customer had difficulty in using the product.
All of these products are returned to our certified testing facilities where they are examined, fully tested, and if necessary, repaired and repackaged. Only suitable products, as classified by our professional inspection and testing process, are then made available for sale through Argos Outlet.
Refurbished products may be non-pristine, for example:
On occasion some items may show signs of minimal use, which may include minor cosmetic marks which do not affect the functionality in any way.
Although most of our refurbished products are sold in their original manufacturers packaging, there may be occasions, due to packaging damage, where plain white or brown packaging may be used.
In a small number of instances, it may have been necessary to substitute some original manufacture accessories with generic compatible models, for example TV remote controls.
Similarly, some original instructions or user manuals may be printed or photocopies of the original.
The fact that we guarantee the products for a full year means that you can purchase with full peace of mind.
Postage of £2.99 added. So now £72.98

Jump to unread Post a CommentOther than the fact the cardboard packaging had been opened and taped shut (and an 'Argos Managers Special' stamp on the side of the outer box) the Kindle was perfect -without a single scratch front or back - and the charging/data cable was still coiled in its original paper sleeve. I can only guess this was an 'unwanted gift' discretely returned to Argos once the giver was safely off-side. (You know the form - It's handed to you on your birthday and you have to open it there and then and pretend to be delighted to avoid insulting dear Auntie Jean...)
Anyhow, 2 weeks later and its in daily use and now loaded up with enough books to keep me going for at least a year. With the 12 months warranty, I'd say that unless you really want a Kindle Touch go for it. And if you were thinking of a Kobo or something else, at this price why not just stick with the market leader and its ease of use / battery life etc.
Not knocking the other eReaders. I haven't used them. But this does everything I need at a great price.
Also this works really nicely with the Calibre elibrary software (Windows software - just Google it). Calibre creates a library of all your ebooks and lets you sync your kindle (most other ereaders are also supported) and transfer files with a simple 'Send to device'. It also automatically converts ebooks in incompatible formats for your device (epub / prc / mobi) into something which it will recognise while transfering it over - great for when you find something on the net but its in some obscure ebook format. Its freeware too!!

Also, I am not convinced by the Kindle Touch; it looks harder to turn pages and your thumb prints WILL build up! The way you hold this Kindle means that your thumbs rest on the "next page button" very easily.
Amazon has a pretty firm grasp on its best products...
2. can I install a dictionary on it?

Yes it's the 4.
The way I see it is: While it's still a little more money than I'd like to spend on a wifi only version, the only 3g model is nearly £200, and using the touch interface only... I guess this is the best deal that'll be around for a while. Even if Amazon do price cuts, they aren't likely to be before Christmas, or to drop to less than £59.99 for this model. Also seeing as Amazon's warranty is only a year I think paying an extra tenner to have it now is a good investment.

I am waiting to see what that looks like
There aren't any 3g models of this. Only the touch 3G and the kindle 3 with keyboard? But paying twice the price for a 3g version might be a little excessive.

Really? I thought you could use it for anything.
Really? I thought you could use it for anything.
You could on the old 3G Kindle (Kindle 3 with keyboard) but the new ones have that feature removed,
