I personally would hate this , much perfer having a real book then reading off a device like this , who wants to mess around pressing buttons etc when all you want to do is pick up a book and read
#3
Or maybe the time is when they next slash their prices...

PS Still voted hot due to it being the cheapest price :)
#4
Yes personally i would just get a book, but for what its worth its an epic deal.
#5
Dont forgot to add VAT to this!!
#6
A 'Book' is a 'Wireless Reading Device' and it doesn't need a charger!

I'm no technophobe indeed I love gadgets but these things just don't do it for me. Not voting as some will probably love this.

really tempting. been looking into ereaders for a while now before taking the plunge, and was leaning towards the sony touch. This kindle has throw a spanner in the works. comes up as £172.86 for me

I expect other manufactures will be announcing price cuts shortly, so I may still hold out...

Why are people downvoting this, yes you may not personally want this, but find a cheaper one elsewhere and ill pay you the difference..

I'd love one. Does it play ordinary .pdfs and .cbz (comics) etc? What's the "cheaper competitor", out of interest? The one I had my eye on was the Sony discontinued one, ages ago (think it was the PRS 505).
#10
Its the Barnes and Noble Nook, US only im afraid. I think it does play PDF, dont think so bout the cbz though.
#11
Shipping and customs fees adds another £45 to the price :(

I'm pretty sure when they changed form scrolls to books the comments were similar to the above.

And again when they invented printing - cheap, nasty machine-made things. not like proper hand painted books like when I were a lad!

Then again, I could buy a lot of paperbacks for £127

I don't think we're there yet 9not for me anyway) but ereaders are inevitably the future and books will be dusty collectors items (like my lovely vinyl LPs).

P.S. in what way is a Kindle not a "wireless reading device"? You don't have to plug it in and sit near a socket to read you know.
#13
Blah, I want to read comics :-D And I bet Customs would nab mine, they seem to grab everything else!! Any other recommendations? I want to play .pdfs and comics, .cbz (got a ton I read on here with CDisplay).

Though it'd just be another procrastination device (the internet is a handy "excuse" for me to not do so many things!!). As for "real" books, you cannae beat Poundland.

You can carry a lot of books stored in an e-reader. I am currently re-reading books I first read over 35 years ago. When traveling I can change the book to match the mood I'm in instantly. But as people have said it's not for everyone:thumbsup:

reading is hard work and boring anyway. tv is much better.

No problem, didn't want people to get stung

Customs does not take this over £200. Customs fees are paid in the "Import Fees Deposit" amount.

I just purchased one and the total cost was £168.31.
