£3.99 a month? a year?

Pretty sure this is the normal price and not a deal.
#3
this is just for one device too I believe. so if you had more units, it won't play unlimited on those
#4
This has been the standard price since launch. You can only listen through the Echo, no phone / web listening unless you pay for the £7.99 plan.

I was under the impression I could use the echo dot without subscribing to anything, is this incorrect?

No you're not incorrect, this just gives you access to loads of music to stream, you can happily use it without.

Oh pants I thought amazon prime include amazon music for free

Is this the same one you get with a Prime membership ?
I use that now on my phone but think Santa is bringing an Echo .

The deal sucks as it's only on one echo device. I've got a couple and would have to pay for each. Makes no sense at all.

Prime Music and Music Unlimited are different. Prime music is free with prime membership and can be used with Echo. this is a different "Amazon Music Unlimited" which has a much larger collection of songs.

No. The prime one is about 2 million songs, this is 40 million plus according to some sites.

It does.. prime does include a limited selection of music, but you won't find everything you want. Amazon unlimited music has a lot bigger database of music

I have echo dots and I do NOT have Amazon music. Yet Alexa has never once failed to play any song or album I have requested. If it did, I'd consider £4 a month, but I can't see the point when it plays everything without a subscription anyway.

hmm thats great so where does it stream stuff from ?
good to know

This was posted a month ago and got all the way to minus 62 degrees - hopefully will do better this time. Its a great deal when you compare it to the likes of Spotify. You are limited to the one particular dot you have subscribed from but if you hook the dot up to some multi-room speakers you can have the music in more than one room (but no voice control if the dot is not in that room).

Hopefully Amazon will do what the chromecast audio does and enable synchronised playing on multiple dots...

I've had a couple of songs which were not available on prime music but were on music unlimited. On those occasions the echo played a sample of the music.....

Bit of a con. Get music with prime. Oh you want more music. You need this crappy add on!

I have 2 echo dots in the same household - which package do I need to play different streaming music on each one at the same time. I have one amazon account. Thx for your help!

This is what it suggests on the faq

I have multiple Amazon Echo devices. With the Echo plan, can I listen to Amazon Music Unlimited on all of them?
The Echo plan allows you to listen to Amazon Music Unlimited on a single Amazon Echo or Echo Dot for only £3.99/month. It can't be transferred among Amazon Echo devices. To listen to Amazon Music Unlimited on multiple Amazon Echo devices (plus your smartphone, tablet, PC/Mac, and Fire TV) sign up for the Individual plan.

However I'm not sure if it allows simultaneous access to your account from two devices - it may be one at a time. But you have a month free trial to give it a try

Does the 30 day trial expire from purchase/registeration ?
or can i wait until an artist i like doesnt play and start the 30 day trial?

30 day trial of Amazon Music unlimited can be started any time - it is like any Amazon trial so not limited to when you purchase the Echo and can be cancelled in the account section of the Amazon website.

Prime is vastly becoming a total waste. First one-day deliveries turn into 2 day. Now you need an add-on package for extra music. For people who say that echo has never failed to play their song... try asking it to play almost anything by Nine inch Nails... it will say "Here's a sample of ...." and play 7 seconds of it. It's really unfair to people who purchased the echo based on it playing whatever music from the prime music and now we have to purchase an additional service. Cold. sorry. Amazon moneygrabbers.

I've tried the Amazon Prime and unlimited Music, prime music will have music by most artists, but not many complete albums. Unlimited Music tends to have the whole albums and is quite diverse, worth forking out the extra money for I would say, but it depends upon your priorities.

A pound a week for 40 million tracks seems good for me so went for it...............but I am old enough to remember the only music you could play at home was vinyl and the tape of Sundays top 40 oO

Have been trying to catch it out, but it found subhumans and poison girls fine, it did struggle with the shadows tho, kept playing Cruxshadows from my collection, but it learned over a few days , a good laugh. :)
