The original Rubix cubes are very stiff. If you want a speedy, 'quick flick' one I would suggest a quick search on eBay. You should be able to get an equally good price.

This is a good price for the original cube though, its just not the best on the market.

Still doesn't make them as good as the cubes which can be bought from websites like popbuying.com and dealextreme.

The two most popular speed cubes are the type A-V and the type F-II. Both are cheaper than this and much better.

Brings back memories...

probably not 'the' original - but spotted loads of these at poundland last week - for...you're right, £1

Saw them Snakes and Ladders yesterday, Sorely tempted. I am sure the trick to solve it is on the internet somewhere, probably you tube. I had a book as a kid and could do it in a minute or so. My mate won a competition by shuffling it up in a remembered way and so solving it took 20 seconds.

May go back and buy one.

There is also a 7 step guide on how to solve it included with this package

Doesn't it defeat the point when they're supplied with instruction books these days?!

Re: original vs. modern cubes - I have an original 1970s cube with drops of vaseline injected into the 6 swivel points (under the "face" squares) and it's so free moving I can hold the bottom and spin the top by just flicking it. Nothing comes close to the weight and feel of that original one, and I've had dozens!

Cube4You cubes are significantly better - faster, feels firmy, better construction, slides better, adjustable springs etc.

I got fed up with mine and rearranged the stickers. Got the job done in cowboy fashion!
