Best pair of headphone I've ever owned, fed with a high quality DAC and amp it really sings. X)

Not necessarily the cheapest ever (its been around £180 before) but this is about the standard price you should buy these at. Plenty of people highly recommend these over the HD650 and tour them as one of the best value headphones, and I've been looking to buy these to start my open head phone collection to go with my tube amp

I know these are different but how does actual sound compare with say the audio technica ATH-M50s?

I have had both and X2's stand out as the better headphone for gaming and as the best all-rounder. HD600's are the better headphone for listening to music as it should sound in a quiet room but I keep going back to the X2's as the sound is delivered more effectively, they are better built and are more configurable with the 3.5mm option.

I figured someone may have these, and also had the ones I own. While stating I know these are different in terms of open and closed back I'm no further forward.

Besides, the video is contradictory as mine are studio monitors which are closed back.

Finally the price is back to normality.

The ugliest headphones I've ever owned (I've had a few) wasn't blown away with the sound so sold to CEX within a week. Still in search of perfection
#11
These are well worth the money , quality headphones, like the 650 also. But as my still mint. HD 580 are still good enough for me , I'll wait for a better deal

Amazon selling the HD 650 for around £245.... which isn't bad...these are really over priced ...

No such thing really. A lot of it is to do with signature. Find the signature you like.

Had the HD 580, the drivers are identical to the HD 600 (same part number), you can replace the side grills on the HD 580 with the HD 600 grills (cost around £28 from Sennheiser) they'll sound identical.

Sarcasmo sounded better to be honest.

the HD600s are great mid-fi phones. They are open backed so they will have a fairly wide soundstage, will present more detail than Beats phones and will keep the bass to a level the audio engineer wanted!

I don't know. They might not have "boomy" bass. But saying they sound at the level the audio engineer wanted. Surely a movie like Interstellar or Cloverfield, they would blow your head off with these? Because that's what the movies are intended to do :D
They don't have emphasized bass and have a flat-ish response, that's for sure.

Richer Sounds had these on offer for £100 a while back (about 10 years!!). I'm amazed they're still for sale, but they're very good - I've never felt the need to look for others since.

You sure it wasn't the HD580s...but the HD600s are certainly a very old (but good) design!

Definitely the 600's, I'm still enjoying mine. Thought it was a run-out price back then, but here they are, in all their 80's splatter paint / marbled effect glory!

If it helps anyone there is a pair of HD650's going 2nd hand for £165 ONO http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sennheiser-HD650-Headphones-/272500122947

I picked up 600's for £120 a little while after the richer sounds deal, which I kicked myself for missing.
