"An exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of arguably the greatest and most cherished of all the Star Wars films, the most important motion picture sequel of all-time, and a movie that changed pop culture forever: Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back. J.W. Rinzler, author of the acclaimed The Making of Star Wars, once again uses his unprecedented access to the Lucasfilm archives, and their treasure trove of never-before-published photos, design sketches, paintings, production notes, interviews, anecdotes, and scripts, to take us back thirty years to relive the entire production process for one of the most anticipated movies ever produced."

Have just ordered the 'Making of Star Wars' hardback from WHSmiths online, for £28 delivered.

Seems to be the cheapest online, unless anyone knows better?

As I said above, this seems to be the cheapest at the moment for the Hardback...

Waterstones still selling it for £40.

Just had the following back from WHSmiths, regarding my earlier order for the Making of Star Wars book....

Thank you for placing your recent order with WHSmith.co.uk. We apologise that we have not yet been able to fulfill your order for the product(s) listed below as the publishers are currently considering reprinting this book. Please be assured that we will continue to try and obtain this item(s) for you and will not debit your payment until your order is ready to be dispatched.

Product Title: The Making of "Star Wars"
Product Code/ISBN: 9780091920142
Sold by: WHSmith
Price: £27.99
Quantity: 1

Gutted!

Will leave the order in place and see if it gets reprinted, or a cheaper alternatvie comes up beforehand. But many of the other online stores also mention awaiting reprinting by publisher.

Its a pity WHSmiths are still taking orders for something they can't and maybe won't be able to fulfill, even of they dont take the cash until despatch.

Bought it from play for 15 quid too. Beautiful book, especially if your an artist.

Is the book in the following link

http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/book/9780345477613/The-Making-of-Star-Wars-TM

the same as the hardback available at whsmith?
#28
Good to hear shopkeeper, I'm a concept artist (and a fan of the original trilogy) so looking forward to browsing through it for inspiration.

Yep, that's the same book but paperback.

That book is (new) £9.73+ £2.80 delivery from amazon marketplace. There's a 1 to 2 month delivery wait if you buy it from amazon themselves, might be worth it if you're not in a rush and want to save on the £2.80 delivery charge.

Thanks Kentaro for the links! I'll order it from amazon. Should give me enough time to get through 'The Empire Strikes Back' making of book.

It's quite the tomb, both in terms of text and images!
#31
Says on Backorder now so I ordered from Waterstones for £9.50 - thanks to Markprigg and thanks to the OP :-)
#32
The paperback version of the 'Star Wars' book, while in general is the same, apparently has less content than the hardback book.

After a little research of my own I have come to the same conclusion. Can't definetly say this is the case as its just based on reviews of the book on Amazon. Didn't find any actual comparisons by credible reviews :p

Think I'll hang on until its released officially again in hardbook, at a reasonable price.
#34
These books spoil my memories of the Star Wars films.
Seeing photos of Luke and Vader fighting with 15 bearded men a few feet away watching from behind cameras just isn't right.
#35
I was given the book on Vader which was part of the Vault series. Worth a look as it slipped by me for a year. Great present and surprise.
#36
OOS :o
#37
heat added, thanks OP...order that and the one from WH SMith too...now we just need the Jedi one cheap!!!!
#38
I just watched this film a few days ago (original version) and this would have been a great purchase. Pity it has been snapped up.

There isn't an equivalent 'Making of Jedi' book yet - hopefully it is in the pipeline though.

The Making of 'Phantom Menace' would be an 'interesting' one..... would just be full of pics of blokes sitting at computers!! :p
