got the 4GB version of this couple of months ago for £14. So 100% more capacity for only 50% extra seems hot to me!
#2
argos price £69.99

Waht's the transfer rate?

Unless it's 10mb+ write speed, i don't see what the fuss is all about. I bought a 12Gb maxell a month ago for 29.99 delivered from play and it's got a 9 mb/s write speed.

Ready boost is a gimmick. Any old drive is compatible with readyboost.

Had these since day 1. They are still the best USB disks I've used. Nice design, fits well on keys, retractable head etc... quick too.

hot deal, I got the 4gb metal version and its wicked. Got it for £20 a few months back.

PC World seem to have a hit list of price match items.

Just try and reserve on of these for collection and see what happens...

.. you will get to the store to be told they have none in stock :-(

tried this twice with the 4GB version this weekend.

PC World's response - not our problem - read our T&Cs

Got the 4gb one and i love it. The software that comes with these ranges from very handy (a portably copy of office) to invaluable (the sync software). I use mine every day to back up my email and documents and my only regret is I never waited a few weeks and got the 8gb instead of the 4.
#11
I have my entire life on the 4GB verion of this one. Transfer rate has never been an issue. U3 really rocks and ticks a box for me. I dont even carry a laptop anymore.
#12
Very tempting - must resist! Just remember how vulnerable you may be if you lose one of these (not saying don't use one, just consider using encryption if you put critical details on it).
#13
I have one of these in 4GB and they are great, very solid build unlike some ive had before. The ready boost software is great other than when im trying to get on the UNI computers (the uni blocks the software and causes a few problems)
#14
Got a 4GB one of these.. very good so far although the U3 stuff can be annoying
#15
Good price. Voted Hot.

But be aware that the U3 Cruzer is not compatible with Win98 or order..

You can uninstall this and make it a regular flash drive, Open the U3 Launchpad and click on Settings, then select U3 Launchpad Settings and click on the Uninstall tab!

Nice deal, thx.

I use the 4gb version in work. I have a vmware image installed on it and have no problem with read/write speeds.

I am going to buy this 8gb version so I can use it on my divx player. Its so much easier copying films/photos/music than messing around with discs;-)

Anyone know if you can setup 2 sections to the stick i.e. one password protected and one open to allow me to plug this into a dvd player.

Any idea how - I can't get my DVD player to read this no matter what.

my dvd player reads it well. i have a 8gb one and a 4gb one at home aint tested them yet was gunna send them back but i think ill keep them now. :)
#23
Not sure in the point in buying this if you delete the U3 software might as well buy the cheaper non U3 version ??. I've ordered hoping there is a way to setup a 'unlocked' section on the stick to plug this into a dvd player etc.
#24
Bought this from PicStop a month ago for £29 delivered, so this is a great deal.

The U3 works a dream for me. I use it to run Firefox with my own skin, extensions and bookmarks from Work, home and anywhere else. Superb!!

Ok another site giving these details

USB Stick / Memory Size: 8,192 MB / Read Speed: 7.0 MB/s / Write Speed: 5.0 MB/s

5MB/s is quick enough i think

Agree with the positve comments, I really like these drives as they're small and require no cap...you just slide out the plug.

I dislike the U3 software, when you insert the USB drive it starts running the software without ever asking permissions first and doesn't always remove itself when the stick is unplugged leaving phantom drives on the PC. There is an uninstaller available, when you plug in the USB drive hold the shift key to stop it autorunning, run the U3 uninstaller and you're back to a standard memory stick.
