WD Caviar 3TB SATA Green @ Amazon: £82.76

For what its worth Flubit offered me 12% off this price. Can't guarantee you'll get the same (perhaps more!), but I'm certainly tempted now...

1.5%?... So you've used over 200 of these drives in 24 months?...
It would need to be 300. Not unusual in a professional data storage environment.

3/200 failures would be 1.5%, and I'd say green drives would be very unusual in any kind of professional environment... They're consumer drives through and through!

You'd be wrong then, due to the variable spin rate they offer lower power usage, therefore lower temperatures. In densely populated 1U storage environments they offer major savings long term for both energy used, and cooling required.

Anyhow as I stated in the first post, it's the AV-GP version of the Greens I use, so they are aimed directly at the professional market.

According to who?
I mean, they work as pro drives and if they are not that different in reliability then it comes down to a label colour and a price. The rest is an expectation set by the company.

Sorry for not backing this up sooner but this link provides the info to an excellent video about similar practices of built in obsolescence: http://www.apfelkraut.org/2011/03/the-untold-story-of-planned-obsolescence/
Well worth watching even if Epson don't use the same tactics any more.
This is a bit late but i came across the deal and wanted to give a warning to anyone who might be tempted.

Epson might have a good reputation in professional photo printers but after buying the SX515W i advise anyone to stear clear of their consumer series printers/multimachines.

The multimachine refuses to perform ANY operation if one of the 4 cartridges is empty. It "fails" to recognise even the genuine ink and its a practice of Seiko well documented in the net.

Its a ruthless policy of them screwing their customers forcing expensive and unnecessary cartridge purchase and a environmental negligence. Well done Japs.
kevmurph1
I have this printer. I wouldn't recommend it. its awkward to use and I've just bought new ink (none Epson) and the printer won't accept it!!

I've had this almost 2 weeks now and I can't fault it so far. I've read a few third party ink retailers suggest not updating the firmware on the printer or it doesn't accept their ink.

Still can't forgive Epson for when they used to put a failure chip in their printers. It meant that it would stop working after a certain number of prints even though there was nothing wrong with it. It forced people to buy a new printer.

We can probably say that for all electrical products!
good find thanks!

Any way around the £6 delivery?

Only if you take a free trial of Amazon Prime (you can get 3 months if you sign up for their 'Family' version), or buy some other stuff to take it over the £10 minimum price for free super saver delivery.

Have they got a product range for more 'areas' and got their names mixed-up?
If you're strapped for cash, the Allura Poundland one is pretty good, though boyf's one stopped working after a few weeks. The one he has now is still going strong, months later, so maybe he got a dud first time around.

Excellent value but been bitten with this type before (not this seller), lasted couple of weeks, only use IKEA ones now about same price.

You may want to purchase a few of these for future use, just in case you haven't read the report from which on Ikea LED lighting.

Saw very similar in Home Bargains for £2.99 yesterday, think they were 27 5050 SMDs but not positive.

I had some like this from ebay last year, been in about 8 months and one has blown (within the first month) but the rest are going strong. Only paid £25 delivered for 10 though, so this looks a bit expensive?

The Home Bargains ones are 24 SMDs. I picked one up yesterday to test before buying loads, good so far.
What's the wattage and lumen rating?
I've been meaning to buy some more led gu10 bulbs for around the house and for £3 the ability to pick them up (as opposed to a few weeks travel from china) they sound ideal.
5 watt, 370 lumens.

Actually these are 5.5w and 460 Lumens

Have a read of the thread.

I don't know if it is just the g series but Lenovo laptops have a hinge problem.my laptops hinges came loose in 6 months.the technician repaired it but they broke again within six months and by then it was out of warranty.never buying Lenovo again

Don't know what you where doing with the hinges but normally every laptop have certain durability levels. The other point is if your laptop was a ThinkPad or other Lenovo laptop. I wouldn't go for other laptop than Lenovo ThinkPad.

I'd say the Hardened Edition is a better buy for £32. You can sell some of the other DLC that comes with it for £3-5 each :) and you end up getting the Seasons Pass pretty much for free

Shame no Wii U price reduction, voted hot anyway.

Why would anyone want the Wii U version? This game is all about multiplayer. The Wii U has a poor online setup. Stick with Mario for the Wii U. For everything else get another console.

I think this should have read ...Stick with mario for the Wii U. For everything else get a PC. :P
I own all consoles including the ps2, GC and original xbox. In fact I own 3x of each and have a whole set in my bedroom as well as front room and cinema room. I personally wouldnt want to play on the tiny screen of the gamepad just like I would now never watch a movie that isnt on a large hd screen. Each to their own. If funds are tight I would actually say the PS3 or 360 would be the console to own especially as Nintendo games are always expensive.

I hate paying more than £20 a game for the PS3 or 360 but am forced to do so with the Wii U and especially 3ds.

Wasn't sure about getting this after the story to GTA4 was depressing and disappointing imo.
Can gladly say it isn't and is definitely worth £20 :3
Was planning to wait as not finished GTA IV - but kind of lost interest in it now. Hopefully this is better, certainly appears a lot more to do.

Purchased from Amazon over Tesco, purely as I have credit to use on Amazon, so I pay £0.
Just had my Flubit order for the 360 version cancelled as 'out of stock', at least Amazon is still £20.
Ordered Fri (super saver). Got an email today (Sunday) saying it would be delivered today! Thought it must be a mistake, but sure enough it was delivered by courier. Fantastic service. Not sure if Sunday delivery is going to be a new Amazon thing. Anybody know? I guess shops are open 7 days a week, Amazon and other on line retailers will be packing 7 days a week, so why not deliver 7 days a week.

I bought the trilogy last year for about £8, very unusual for me, as I love a bargain (which means next to nothing or free, lol). However, once bought, I couldn't put my kindle down, and I'd recommend these to anyone. You must start off in order though, else you won't get the flow of the story. I can't wait for the next book!

They are fast but not that bloody fast. :)

depends on your set up. I used to have an XP system that booted in 4 seconds after post. that wasn't even a SSD. They remove all the boot up **** that no one needs. like I do haha.

also if the deal where the 240GB is cheaper than half the price. might as well get two on them and RAID them.
