Saw this as we're thinking of a king-size mattress and thought it was an awesome deal - £259 for a 10" mattress with a 3" memory foam layer? Normal price almost £1,200? Yes please.

...then saw Amazon flogging the same mattress for £223.38, undercutting the Local deal by over £35.
Why would it be self promotion? I thought it was a good deal, but obviously not (_;)
Agree with above, description looks like self promotion.
I think they are ordinarily this price, and the price on their own website reflects this. I cannot understand what is being offered by Amazon here? (Looks like advertising to me).

They are comfortable mattresses (I can vouch for that as I am typing whilst laying on one) but my personal recommendation is to go for thicker 12"

It doesnt. On the nokia it will since that massive resolution will be very prone to blur at slower shutter speeds but on other devices the difference really isnt that much, especiallly on video. Also note the larger aperture on the z1, allowing more light entry without having to reduce shutter speed.

The nokia obviously produces better pictures purely down to its sensor size and resolution, its impossible for the z1 to compete with such monstrous camera hardware. Even with flash and ois, it couldnt compete. To fit such a large sensor, needs increased width. Width which modern phones do not appeal to consumers. The nokia camera is limited by an old cpu and the device itself is limited by a smaller screen and resolution and an unpopular os. Its an enthusiasts device. I cant rememeber the link but on auto the z1 produced better photos( believe it or not).

Heres a qoute
.
A look at the Exif data of our sample images reveals that in their auto modes all devices are aiming to keep the ISO as low as possible and therefore capture at shutter speeds that are, despite optical image stabilization systems on the Nokia, LG and Samsung, on the verge of being too slow for hand-held shooting. We shot a series of images with each phone and only found one or two really sharp ones from each device when we sifted through the results on our computer screen.

The Nokia produces the cleanest image in this comparison but with its super-high resolution sensor, at a shutter speed of 1/9th second it is virtually impossible to capture an image that looks sharp at a 100% magnification, despite the 1020's fairly efficient optical image stabilization. It would make more sense for the auto ISO function to select a higher setting and trade some image cleanliness for sharpness.

Once you go manual, the nokia wipes the floor with any other device.
The weigth thing I was reffering to was the weight of the camera module ( which is ginormous on the nokia). ofcourse the z1 itself will be heavir as its bigger, has better hardware and is made out of metal. As I was saying, sony makes the best camera modules in that size.

Look at the size of them here:
http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/News/Press/201208/12-107E/

consiering the size of the nokia module, what sony managers to do with such a tiny module is incredible.

To the people wondering why anyone would want this over a normal compact camera.. Its because this in the right hands would take far better pictures thanks to the significantly larger appurture (lens area). Compact cameras have tiny lenses on them and struggle in low light. This should do much better in low light and take much sharper pictures because it can take pictures at higher shutter speeds.

As a bonus you have the flexibility of placing this anywhere and being able to look at the live view on your phone. Some positions with a normal camera are impossible because you lose the ability to look at the attached screen. So this gives you much more room to experiment.

1/2.3 type Exmor R CMOS 18.2 megapixels (effective, approx)

That is not a big sensor at all - and the maximum aperture is only f3.3. In short, I think you are referring to the QX100 which is far more expensive and is based on the excellent RX100.
I have the Lumia 1020 - now that does have a much bigger sensor, and a v.bright f2.2 lens along with a xenon flash. That to me is far and away the best camera phone right now. These Sony lenses are just gimmicks to cover up for the fact they haven't managed to stick a good camera in one of their smartphone's (yet).
Absolute waste of time buying this IMO - particularly given how it has no flash. Just buy one of the cheap wifi enabled Sony cameras...then just copy the pictures to the phone via wifi. Or just buy a 1020 and be done with it :)

The z1 has a great camera and it has the best lens around -g lens. Definitely has the second best camera after the Nokia.

Saying sony hasn't made a good camera on a phone is ridiculous as they supply pretty much everyone with their lenses and module. From the iphones to the Samsung's to the LGS to the nexus. And they tend to get rave reviews, when the camera tech is all Sony. Pretty much everyone , apart from Nokia and experimental htc one ( which is abit of fail in the camera departmen) uses sony camera tech. Their exmor r and rs have a monopoly over the phone camera market.

The Z1 camera is a work in progress, and should never have been released with quite such a poor initial firmware. It has improved - but it does not have a zenon flash or optical image stabilisation. Its audio pickup is also inferior to the HAAC mic's on Nokia's phones.
Sony are ably demonstrating that they can build good hardware (confirmed by so many manufacturer's lining up to buy their sensors) - but they are absolutely rubbish at optimising the cameras on their own phones...hence their need to build these niche add ons. It is why the iPhone camera over the years has been consistently better than those on the Sony's - even though on a technical level, the iPhone camera's are quite inferior.
Also, the actual camera interface on Sony's Xperia's is pretty much point and shoot. You have no manual focus control, no simple/intuitive dials for changing shutter/white balance/iso/contrast. In short - it's a typical Android approach to a problem...spec orientated without focussing on the actual user experience.

http://www.theinquirer.net/IMG/909/270909/xperia-z1-camera-feature-sony-options-2-540x334.JPG?1380120333

You are absolutely right about the firmware. But this is only because they put the latest camera tech into their phones first before selling it to the competition.
Hence why when the xperia z first came out with the latest 13.1 mp exmor rs camera, the software was atrocious, over processing and loosing all the details. The s4, g2 and note 3 all use the same sony made camera with superior results.

However, when the firmware was update the xz now takes pictures on par. Sure they lack ois, but this is generally a minimal difference and only useful in low light as it will allow a slower shutter speed before blur. In normal light its useless. And in video, the sensor has enough pixels for a decent digital frame buffer.

The Nokia camera isn't without its issue. Let's be real here, its a camera with a phone. Not a phone with a camera like the z1. Its a gigantic, power hungry module, its large files take ages to process and this also results in a lack of HDR.
The sony modules are tiny in comparison to the nokia. Thus is why manufacturers are ligning up to buy them. They offer unsurpassed performance to size.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree :)
Sony cannot try and claim to have the best camera phone on the market, then hobble it with an LED flash. You are wrong about optical image stabilisation...it makes a tremendous difference in video as well as in low light photos. Digital stabilisation is a poor solution - it crops the images, and relies on there being sufficient light to judge the amount of stabilisation compensation required. OIS is a far superior solution
I think your comment about the Xperia Z firmware update really paints an accurate picture. After numerous updates, it is only now on a par with the competition (that competition being the S4, G2 & Note 3).
Nokia on the other hand released the 1020 with a v.v.capable firmware, and are following it rapidly with the Lumia Black update which speeds up shot to shot times, further improves the oversampling processing and adds full RAW support. There are numerous HDR lenses available on the market -- and the Nokia Camera app itself allows for multi frame bracketing (for stitching together HDR photos in post).
In short, the competition is definitely lagging behind - both in terms of technology and in interface. Sony's camera interface is v.v.poor in comparison to Nokia Camera. & frankly, without manual focus, the quality of the camera module is irrelevant.

It will be interesting to see how Sony stack up when they release their Windows Phone model in 2014. It'll certainly be good to have the competition - but Microsoft's money, and Nokia's expertise suggest to me that Nokia will remain at the forefront of mobile photography tech.

By the way, the 1020 weighs 11 grams less than the Z1 ... so the weight comparison really isn't relevant.

Just used flubit to get this for £4.77 delivered. Might be worth a try for those with an account.
Hmm. Be interested to see how I get on with this one as I generally love their games. We had the bus stop game which is BORING but for the sake of teaching my boy counting, it was great because you had to count the number on both dice, count the number of spaces your bus moves and then count the number of people getting on or off the bus.

We moved on from there to the Three Little Pigs which is less about the counting because there is an element of danger in that you can blow each others' houses down thus 'empowering' the little ones by letting them level the playing field as well as introducing an element of strategic thinking. It just means that instead of trying to hide the game (Bus Stop), I find it easier to get motivated to play the game with him. Also I find it's helpful for when you have preschoolers of varying ages to keep the older ones engaged but not too complicated for the younger ones to follow. I don't think this has the longevity of the (older) board games we played with as children, but certainly much more engaging for the under-5s. You can get a lot worse value for a £5er worth of toys.

Yeah I can get that (I didn't vote cold, it's obviously a good price) I just wanted to add some balance because everyone was posting saying how good it was & we didn't find that at all, it was well made to backup a previous comment on here - surprisingly not flimsy at all for a game selling between £5-£10 I think we paid around £8 for it but that's the only good thing I could say about it.

I think I just prefer to dumb down adult or older kids games than try to make sense of some of the awful kids games - maybe board game time is more for me than them ;-)
worto03
I might be on my own here as everyone else posting seems to like it but I found this game very rubbish, maybe one of the worst kids games we have.

It seems to be typical for a childs game, poorly thought out with rules that make very little sense. Mine are 3 and 6 now (were 2 and 5 when we had this). much better off with altering the rules of more grown up games to make them easier or looking at something like the lego games which are great fun

Agree with others, orchard toys are well worth the money. I have to disagree that the rules are complicated with any of their games, in fact because they're not all simple it actually means we can enjoy as a family. My girls are 2&4 and we have 10 games so far. We play them regularly and they are still in good nick :)
We have had lots of Orchard Toys games over the years and our children have always loved them. They are well made, using good quality, sturdy card so should last for years. Haven't tried this particular game but would recommend Orchard toys.

Why so cold then?

Could be because its now £460......................

Yes :( needs expiring. Seemed good to me.

Excellent deal at the original price

I've just clicked 'Get Deal' & it's showing as £369.99! My Mum (who's in her 60's) wants a laptop & I know she'll struggle with Windows 8 - I'm thinking that a touch screen might help! Heat added.

I'm sure this had been on the lightening deal for past couple of weeks at about £7.50
Don't know if you are correct can't see it cheaper on camel.

Camel doesn't show lightening deals & short term reductions either
Cheers I didn't know that .

Usually sits at the 500-600 mark, this is the lowest price on Amazon to date. Good price for a well rated 11" touchscreen laptop with SSD. http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com/Lenovo-Yoga11s-11-6-inch-Lapto…

Either get a surface pro and put up with the poor battery life or save £200 and get an asus t100. Not a lot in it performance wise (or at least enough to notice on a tablet - you wouldn't be doing full hd video editing on this)

Awesome camera at this price. I have the A57 (previous model). One word of advice for all camera buyers - try it for size in your hand before you buy it, is it "comfortable" can you use it easily...?
A57 is actually better than the A58. I would buy an A57 if I could find one.

dpreview of the A58 is in my prev link (one of a few they reviewed, direct link below)

It's not a full review , that's just an overview. DPReview have never made one. Their full reviews are multiple pages long for each camera.

Either way, that's one 'review' and all the others I posted are positive in post 2. I didn't cherry pick them. Plus dxomark results speak for themselves.

Canon aps-c sensors are slightly smaller as well by the way which=less light.
agree with crunchie, better to spend money on lens than body. not that the a58 is a bad body, to many the 58 was a downgrade on the 57, plus its built from cheaper feeling material so I dont think it been given a fair deal by some reviewer. As it stands its a lot of bang for its buck with a sensor streets ahead of canon, much bettet dynamic rangr, full time pdaf, plus what you see in the evf is what your pics turn out like, no more guessing how exposure changes will be reflected in the finial image.

I ve the a58 as back up to another body and think in terms of IQ its hard to beat.

yes, for the price, and the choice of lenses, its tempting!.....Im just not convinced that the A58 is a better "all rounder" than the 600D or D3200/D5100, even if they are £50-£100 more, dont suppose you can go wrong with any of them
