Fractal Design Define R4 ATX PC Case - Black/Pearl @ Amazon £64.98 Delivered

A nice quiet ATX case with plenty of room to work in. It's also received great reviews from around the web. Nice and subtle design too rather than the gaudy windowed cases that tend to prevail in this…

Just got this at the office. Someone thought I'd ordered a small fridge based on the Amazon box size!

For those that went into this blindly. Like me. It is a rather large case. No way I'm getting away with hiding this anywhere near the TV at home!

So, anyone have a recommendation for a more compact case that will still take an R9 290?
Anyone thinking of flubit I just got order update, estimated delivery :

I have the windowed version with 6 fans running at 12v, pretty damn silent.

I'd be interested to know which fans you've got and in what configuration in the case? I really want to make this build as close to silent as possible!

I have this case, windowed with 6 x Aerocool dead silence fans and it is SILENT. The fans are outstanding but they are pricey.. £96 for all of them :O

EDIT: Sadly it'll never be as silent as I want until I can water cool my 770. Just a heads up to most people, even in a case like this you will hear the GPU when using it, for gaming of course. I put a lot of time and money into silent parts... then theres the GPU :(

Anyone care to offer a little advice.

Was thinking of this case for a new build. Going for understated and quiet.

I've already got a R290 MSI Twin Frozr, was thinking of an i7 Intel 4770K processor but would like some advice on decent motherboard.RAM to get to go with it?

Hmm, starting to try and answer my own questions and looks like I should wait a week or two and get an i7-4790k instead.

Paired maybe with an ASUS Z87-PRO motherboard, 16GB of Crucial Ballistix Sport RAM and a Samsung EVO SSD.

Good quiet power supply?

Pretty much the same build as me with this case and the R290 MSI Twin Frozr although you will want a Z97 chipset motherboard like this Asus Z97 Pro rather than the older Z87. It's the one I've ordered for the 4790K. It will be compatible with new Broadwell CPUs when they're released late next year too.

The Crucial Ballistix Sport is a good choice too as it doesn't have the stupidly tall and pointless heat spreaders that can interfere with large (and quiet) air CPU coolers should you chose to fit one in your build.

As for power supplies, well it's something I'm looking into at the moment. Seeing as my last i7 920 system has lasted me since early 2009 I don't mind spending a bit more on this system. I looked at a Seasonic 660W Platinum from Scan which should be ample for my needs as I'm never going to overclock or run dual graphics cards. It's supposed to be very quiet but haven't decided for sure yet.

Thank you!
Cracking case, no negatives from me and absolutely ideal for a first build. Cable management is a breeze and there's tons of room inside.

Also definitely worth adding a couple more fans, my Gigabyte 7950 WF3 is audible when it really cranks up in demanding games, but it's my own fault, I'm running a beefy OC and I haven't done anything about managing the GPU fans yet. :)
Ah that's good to know as I have exactly the same gpu and have overclocked a 2500k, my old case is getting too hot in this warm weather and it's a job i have put off for a while as only recently bf4 on mantle makes it really work hard.
