Could use this whilst the PS3 controller was charging.........? The cable that comes with it, is not long enough....!

Heat.......!

dont understand why so cold

Looks like a very good quality cable.

USB signal shouldn't degrade too much over such a short distance. Not quite sure the mutli-layer shielding is necessary or not. The gold plating might help to avoid oxidation but who care? You can get a new one when the contact oxidized.

ive got 2 of these to use with the ps3 controllers as I agree with agaveworm they aren't long enough, unless you like sitting right by the tv and that's where your ps3 is (mines to the side in an awkward place to sit) theyre good enough quality :)

@ro888 True USB cables should be fine and not need shielding. However.... The quality of the cable will make a big difference when it comes to power, cheap thin cables will not carry the amps to charge / power some USB devices.

Very true. The 1.5m one I got from pundland the other day wouldn't power my USB HDD.
A 2m premium one from another shop was just fine.

You would still have to plug in the USB to mini USB cable with this. So you would have this extension, a charging lead connected to that, to which your controller would be connected.

Much simper to buy a longer USB to Mini USB lead for under £2, connect it directly to the PS3, and then into your controller.
Better solution, and cheaper.

The belkin 3m is also a good deal i bought the 1.8m very happy with it also has a blue light on each end and gold connectors if that makes any difference.

£3.23 now. Bloody Amazon - they're terrified that someone might get a good deal.

£1 Pound-shop. Have one myself. Cream coloured.

Works great while charging the Xbox 360 pad.

This is freaky, I was looking for something like this just this morning.
Ordered and heat added.

Fantastic, thanks :D I've been after a cheap one of these for weeks.

went for it thank you

I've just purchased a similar cable.
Not quite as long as I didn't need 3m, 1.8m was fine for me and it was £1.91 (including shipping) at kenable.co.uk.

Good point for things which stretch or break the specification anyway, like portable hard disk drives (which often come with an extra cable to draw power from a second port). But for most stuff you are likely to use this with, such as keyboards and mice, it should be no problem,
