These deals are starting to become ridiculous. maybe the mods should ban food related ones otherwise every special offer that a supermarket does will be posted and just ruin hotdeals. I've already notriced a huge amount of pretty worthless deals appearing more and more in just the last month making it very difficult to spot a really genuine good deal.

Maybe we need a special food section where people can post their 5p off deals etc. BTW, my local chippie has a special on OAP's fish & chips this week ;-)

Being a noob, I wouldnt expect you to understand how this site is now plagued with pretty useless deals.

I agree with Stainy127 Good Deal, we seen this deal in asda on Friday, my wife and I bought 4 tins. I think she going to go back for more........

If it wasn't for Asda/Walmart in the uk we would all be paying at least 20 - 30% more for our groceries. Asda / Walmart set the pricing standard and all the other supermarkets have no choice but to follow if they want to stay competitive.

I disagree. A deal that you may not find hot may be hot to someone else. As an example, I don't particulary like all the deals on Dell computers, as I don't need one, but I don't complain about it, I scroll down to a deal that I am interested in!

Im sure all the students that access this site would like to hear about these deals, they may be on a limited budget, and these deals may help them to save money to pay for booze at the Union bar.

Good find...voted Hot!

Not entriely true...

...but still a seriously Hot find nevertheless.

What is the point of Hot UK Deals? TO FIND CHEAP DEALS. Why does it matter if it is a supermarket. Most people spend the majority of their income in a supermarket. These deals help people save money. Come on, wake up and smell the coffee. If this web site is not for supermarket deals, it should have some kind of mission statement on the front of the web site stating its intentions. Please tell me if you agree.:x

I don't think I expressed my point very clearly,

Asda / Walmart have huge buying power and are able to negotiate, even dictate to a certain level, what prices they are prepared to pay the supplier/manufacturer (Tesco and others do not have the same buying power especially with international suppliers). This enables them to set a pricing standard. Tesco (and others) are then forced to match / undercut these prices set by Asda / Walmart. Also be aware of the power of marketing techniques used by All retailers which give a powerfull illusion to their customers.

I can't believe I'm defending Tesco here as they are one of my pet hates as a company, but I don't think that's necessarily true. I think you are getting carried away with thinking that Tesco is a UK only enterprise when in fact its horrid tentacles are reaching out all over the World. Tesco are in fact the World's third largest grocery company, so I would imagine they are not really in a position where they scavenge off suppliers after Walmart have already been and gotten the carcass.

The company I work for have been supplying products internationally since year dot. We are the presently the biggest supplier of goods in our field in the UK and 2nd internationally. I deal with the UK accounts and I can asure you that Walmart are the most powerful buyers we've had the pleasure of dealing with. In fact on many occasions over the years we have had to take a temparary loss on a number of our products to meet our customers needs.

I feel we are going a little off topic here, maybe we can agree to disagree....:-D

Then i'm afraid you are failing to grasp the concept of this website. It's not: www.hotukdealsexceptforfoodstuffsinsupermarketdeals.com
On the main page there are only a few deals posted every hour or so if that, it's hardly that much of an effort to scroll down another inch or two on the screen.

So it will be acceptable if I go through the tescos site and post a new deal for every BOGOF offer I find? Its the same principle. A Hot deal is not really a tin of rice pud for 19p :whistling: In any case, the number of new deals is a lot more than a few per hour on this forum and getting steadily more thus negating the whole point of this site! Oh I see you're also a noob. Explains a lot :-D

Voted hot 'cos a hot deal is a hot deal!

Some people on here need to calm down. Money saving should be fun not pedantic... lighten up!

Maybe there should be a section for food, bog offs etc. I agree the site could fill up with supermarket deals overnight if everyone posted all of the deals that are available. The thing is that just hasn't happened.

I can see both sides here, a deal is a deal but maybe a food section where these great deals can be placed would help everyone, even those poor students.

For me Hot UK Deals is about sharing great deals from retailers that we all don't weekly visit or constantly check the web pages of.
The thing with supermarket deals is I think they are less useful to me as I regularly visit the supermarket and can see what is on buy on get one free etc. (or via their websites) and if I were a regular buyer of custard I can see for myself which is currently on offer and buy accordingly without the need to see it on this forum. Supermarket deals always seem to get on the front page as lots of people buy the item in question so mark it hot through relevancy but soon the front page will be filled with supermarket offers that would push the other great offers off the page quicker.

Its great to see I'm finally getting some support. If you read this thread you will see the ones saying a hot deal is a hot deal is a hot deal are relative newbies (posts less than 20). Once they start to use the site more then perhaps they will agree that supermarket deals are cluttering up what was once a great site for spotting HOT deals.

I agree with shirlsky. Skim reading is a useful skill. OK- you might miss the odd Hot Deal now and again but that's life.

For the cynics, I didn't know about these and managed to get the Rice Pud. from my local ASDA today. The custard was 41p though. Still worth the trip- nice bike ride. Thanks to the person who started the thread.

BTW, does heating these items up make them a VERY hot deal? ;-)
