this chip is a fail.
dualcore i3 beats it badly, even when overclocked, in non-multicore applications
it is slighly faster when encoding video:
Well done for picking a chip that costs 40% more and has considerably worse graphics performance! :|
Hey but you forgot to remind people they will save 10p a year on electric by buying Intel! ;)

Bargain I say! :)
this chip is a fail. why do you think the price went down? and why do you think they're doing cashback?
dualcore i3 beats it badly, even when overclocked, in applications, where no more than 2 cores are used with 2/3 of TDP.

Thanks

does AM3 socket sound compatible with FM1 processor to you? it's not worth exchanging it anyway.

there is a reason why it costs more, the reason is better performance. it's quite simple, I guess even you can understand that. well, maybe.
graphics performance? please. HD2000 is perfectly capable of handling stuff except for games, but then then who games on iGPU?
but hey, everyone, buy dodo FM1 chip, because it's cheaper. you will cry when AMD releases FM2 in few months, but it doesn't matter, because you only spent £80 + cost of motherboard.
and that's a great price for a dodo, right?

In these cases I have no doubt AMD would succeed for £70, this could play better games too.

Ok cheers. I dont know what goes with what half the time. I dont know what am3 or fm1 mean - I only managed to build mine to a budget with the help of several forums or i would never have managed to get compatible components to start with.

that has to do with RAM. and even more with your internet connection.
I mean how much cpu power does downloading torrents take? or listening to music? 1%? 2%?
PCMark 7 performs a series of tests and gives scores in the following categories: An overall score called PCMark; a Productivity score, which is the system performance when using applications such as web browsing and home office applications; a Creativity score, which is the system performance when viewing, editing, converting, and storing photos and videos; an Entertainment score, which is the system performance when recording, viewing, streaming, and converting TV shows and movies, importing, organizing, and browsing music, and gaming; and a Computation score, which indicates the processing performance of the system. Let’s analyze the results.

Yes but it's not giving you 40% more performance on the CPU side never mind the GPU performance even with the HD3000 graphics for the chip you listed.
Yes I quite agree the FM1 platform has no upgrade prospect, but for many people they wont be upgrading in the near future anyway. So in 3 years time when they come to upgrade socket 1155 will be finished aswell. But if your going to be upgrade in the near future then socket 1155 may well be the way to go.
Who games on a iGP? Well not people on the Intel platform...... At lest here you have the option. Most current games are playable at 720p at med detail and some of the older gen games at higher levels.
Well shooting a few baddies on COD and £30 in my pocket is a better trade off than saving a few seconds in WinRAR!
Intel i3-2120 Sandybridge £89.85 on amazon.
A8 3870K £79.40 on amazon
that's about 12% difference.
with cashback, it's 23% more.
for a better performing, cooler running chip.
oh, sorry, where's your 40% gone?

And how about the cpu you actually mentioned? Over a ton. Oh, sorry. Lol

ok, so let's conclude this with the obvious. AMD chips are for poor people.

just for you, even if the HD3000 in 2125 has no impact on processing performance compared to 2120 with HD2000.
Intel Core i3 2125 £101.98
A8 3870K £79.40
22% difference
32% with cashback
still not 40%, damn.
you failed, sorry.
