bit misleading, the first phenoms are actually older than this. The athlon II still represents the low end of the AMD processors. That said, this is a good quad core processor.

What you forget is that you are getting a quad core CPU, 2GB ddr3 ram and a motherboard for less than £130. I know it isn't anything special, and i'm not sure whether the board supports 4gb or 8gb but unless you're going to be doing resource-hungry things, 4GB ram is more than plenty.

As with all technology purchases, do some research first and find out whether you need a quad-core. Then, look at the benchmarks available and choose which one makes the most sense on a performance/cost level.
Making substantive blanket statements without knowing all the variables is tricky at best.
