The Asus M5A78L-M LX ATX Motherboard + AMD AM3+ FX 4100 Processor is ideal if you're building a PC from scratch. This bundle uses new technology with its quad core CPU and 8mb cache with turbo that offers an amazing performance for your computer system.

CPU

The quad core AMD AM3+ FX 4100 Processor will unleash a true core performance boost by simply unlocking the extra cores, without performing complicated BIOS changes. The Asus M5A78L-M LX supports AMD® AM3+ multi-core processors with unique L3 cache delivering a better over-clocking with less power consumption. The BIOS C.P.R. feature automatically restores the CPU to default settings when the system experiences over-clocking failure. You simply shut down and reboot the system and the BIOS automatically restores the CPU parameters to the default settings.

Motherboard performance

This ATX motherboard and CPU also has AMD 760G (780L)/SB710 chipset. It features dual-channel DDR3 memory support and accelerates data transfer rate up to 5200MT/s via HyperTransportTM 3.0 based system bus.

Spec

The intelligent motherboard unit also boasts a new 4-engine version of system energy saving function. There is also anti-surge protection which is designed to detect over-voltage conditions and prevents surges. The impressive bundle also has 8-channel high definition audio. The unit enables high-quality 192KHz/24-bit audio output, jack-sensing, re-tasking functions and multi-streaming technology. The motherboard and PSU bundle includes the Asus Q-fan technology that intelligently adjusts fan speed to ensure a quite, cool and efficient operation.

The Asus M5A78L-M LX ATX Motherboard + AMD AM3+ FX 4100 Processor will bring quality and efficiency to your PC system

Thanks, modified original post.

Cool.
I wish PC World would pay more attention to it's product imaging and description!
#5
The addition of the memory image could seem a little misleading in once sense but it doesn't specify it in the description or details.

It's a pretty good buy for both.

Whether the FX-4100 will take off is another thing.

Better off with this deal - buying it at £99.99 without the RAM. You can buy 4GB of RAM for around £20 nowadays.

Heat added for this deal, thanks OP.

looks very good tbh

As far as I can see... It (the processor) performs about the same as an Intel Core i5 661 which retails for about £150.

they seems good value for money tbh, and overclock well

Don't forget Quidco :) Great find!

Good deal if you dont want to upgrade to the new USB OR SATA speeds.

looks a great deal!

I thought that the new FX processors can't be unlocked like the old Phenoms II?

It's a two module Bulldozer chip, there are no more cores to unlock!

Also aren't the Series 9xx chipsets recommended for Bulldozer?

I'd assume AMD carry out binning, making the 4100 from the 8100's who have failed modules, then deactive 1-2 modules to make it a quad core.

may not be great but this is still a good deal seeing as the processor is around £90

Yet to find a decent benchmark that compares this to similar priced processors from Intel. Most of them seem to be comparing to the i5 series which are a fair bit more expensive.

I would think this outperforms the Core i3's - plus a Core i3 bundle will cost around the £180 mark.

Nice price!

HOT!!

Nice price! HOT!!

Haha, just hope it isn't a miss-price.

nice price 4 a budget system, dont expect phenom 2 power though, the 955be wipes floor with the fx, thats y i just upgraded to the 955be after looking at spec and benchmarks, i rather pay extra £30 for a mobo and get a 955be

Can you link us to what you are talking about? The benchmarks I listed above show the 975 BE only slightly ahead of the 4100 in a few tests, behind in a few others.

On the benchmark chart I am looking at the FX 4100 overall scores are higher than i5 661.

Anyways this is a great price, picking one up tomorrow. Have some heat!

Would this be a lot quicker than a Q6600 and what would overclocking be like on this?
#27
Do I see right that there is no GPU on that CPU or MoBo?
#28
CPU + Motherboard: £100

DVI-I to VGA - Just make sure your Monitor/TV has a DVI-I connector not DVI-D.

Craigs911 just updated his post over on overclock.net, unfortunately it isn't good news:

well i went to the store today after reserving the bundle this is what happened

1 - waiting for them to find it
2 - they bring out wrong item
3 - they dont even have the item ( even though i reserved it)
4 - turns out they never even had it in stock at any store`s or online and the product number is for a intel p4 system skt 1155/1156 ( some one put in incorrect info on web site ) they dont even have the CPU

so i came away with a I3 2100 & ASUS P8H67-M LE mobo for £150 should have been £170 but i got them to give a discount for inconvenience the store also told me to contact customer services

Great find

Add 4gb ram for say £25, an SSD for £50 and you've got a very nippy desktop machine

Well it was worth posting so thanks. Does look like they may not have it though since they don't sell any of the bulldozer (fx) chips on their own on site. Looks to still be just Athlon an Phenom's.

Still I ordered before too .... so i'm hoping for the best!
