There was a deal yesterday for I think the 940 at ~7-8 pounds more, which is I guess why. I think around £90 is the average I've seen the 720 for so not hot on either count I'm afraid.

If you've bought one I'd suggest you cancel if you can and get the 940, higher clock speed and an extra core for under a tenner extra :)

[edit] can't find it now, must've expired.... I'd still hold out though [/edit]

I'm an intel user, and if I were building a system right now, it would be AMD because their performance for money is much better than intel right now. I smell a fanboy here.

Added some more heat...

I'm also an Intel user, but this new range is the best "bang for buck" at stock performance currently.

for the price its good value for money, have some heat.

I ordered the 940 yesterday and it has just been cancelled. Not much of a bargain if the service is so bad eh?
#10
By the way, I heard you can unlock the fourth core on this chip...anyone confirm this as I am poised to order.

Yep ! I agree ! At least with Ebuyer you virtually know you going to receive what you order .....unlike SVP who can't get their act together !!! :x

Yup, it can be done with a good motherboard and some luck.

And it overclocks well too, majority of people are getting 3.4ghz on air.

Seems you need to access 'advanced clock calibration' and I can't seem to find it on my Asus M3N78-VM. Mobo is a Nforce 720a with Geforce 8200 graphics.

Looks like I won't be able to access it.....boo hoo....

I understand that the fourth core is unstable, so it's 'at own risk' if it's unlocked

I might just leave this then...

Only works on AMD chipsets, and only the most recent ones at that.
