This is a fantastic processor for the money. I paid £120.00 a few months ago and it's been fantastic in my gaming PC.

Added benefit is that it works on AM2+ and AM3 boards and will work with DDR2 and DDR3 memory so you don't need to upgrade your board straight away.

Good find, gutted I paid £40.00 more!!

I have a Dell C521 with a AMD Athlon64 X2 5000+ - I wonder if this will work?

Any ideas?

If the board is AM2+ then you should be fine.

I ran a 5400+ prior to this processor on the same board.

I've done some research on this, and from what I've read in forums etc, it seems unlikely. Even if the chipset supports it, it seems as though Dell aren't very good at releasing firmware updates for their motherboards to support the latest cpu's. Don't take this as fact! Just going by what I've read.
good price and often these chips can be unlocked to full quad core with right chipset.

It would be a nice upgrade if it did. Think my C521 is the last time I buy a Dell for work. The quality of aftercare support for the included components is rubbish. The two in the office also have a random graphical glitch with the included Radeon boards that a swap out twice did nothing to fix
