Agree, but good deal if you already have a suitable motherboard!

That's not a misprice, it's about right.
Cheaper at Scan if you have their free delivery -

Cant wait for the bulldozer's to be tested, I want to build a micro PC, just a bit bigger than a NAS, as they have the 3000 hd cards on board, and they run cold-ish,
AMD really need to pull it out of the bag, they always trail behind Intel

doubt bulldozer could compete against my 980x, but we shall never know untill benches are out..

Depends on what front their competing on.
In terms of pure power, the 980x will win hands down.
But for anyone who doesn't need or doesn't want to spend £800+ on the absolute best CPU, I'm sure the Bulldozer chips will be more than capable.

there are rumours that the bulldozer chips have been delayed until Q3 2011 which means a.) Obviously, they won't be available any time soon and b.) There may be the knock on effect of delaying an inevitable price drop of these chips.

Therefore this is a good deal. In any case it is the best price for the product available.

Holy smokes, that Passmark score is insane. I assume it's paired with an equally meaty GPU?
Do you do anything interesting with all that grunt? 8)

Reasonable price, but I'd rather have Intel.
#14
amd are not trying to compete with Intel. remember they are just like any other business. they have a stratagy. theirs is to establish a big market share in the bargain sector... everyone knows a 120 quid chip cannot compete with a 250 quid chip.

Yeah, fair enough. I was just saying that I prefer Intel and would honestly spend the extra money. :P

Hasn't this been a LOT cheaper recently.

No, I don't have a time machine, but wouldn't one be mad to buy one of these at this price right now?

You can usually get a 2500k for £150 and a P67 mobo for £84 from Scan's today only deals, I'd go for that for just a bit extra.

Is this better than an I7 2.93Ghz because of six cores etc? :|

I don't know why people say "oh such and such is better" in this deals when referring to a much more expensive setup. For example an i5-2500k chip is superior sure but it requires not only more outlay on the processor itself but also a motherboard compatible with Intel CPU's, and a deal like this is really aimed at people who have AMD based mobos and as such is a hot deal as it is the cheapest price available (or was) for what is (almost) AMD's top CPU.

screw Intel lol, got one of these other day, nothing less then awesome! 2500k may be better but this is the one for any true AMD fan. and so much cheaper then an Intel build.
