Bought separately this would be around:
86.24+36.79+16.44 = 139.47 (excluding shipping)
So I'd not go for it personally.

links please :)

Cold for me unfortunately.

Typical Maplin over inflated prices at £250 tbh.

The components can be had for a lot cheaper bought seperately.

Think he just googled them. You wont get the processor for less than £100. Novatech advertise it at £86.24 but don't have any stock and as far as I know the 9500 has stopped production so chances are they wont be able to get one at that price.

Regardless on the price of the processor, the MOBO is only £35 and 2 gig of ram would only be £20 odd leaving headroom for a better processor anyway.

Im not saying its great but it cant be had for the price the guy was stating. For about £12 more an option from ebuyer without much searching can be had which is much better. Items 143263,152777 and 142376. With a little shopping about you will probably get it cheaper.

GAVINLEWISHUKD you are right I just did a quick google, and yes it seems that their "ordered upon request" means that they have none in stock. So one could get 9550 for 103.49 at Venom Electronics. Which is still below Maplin's 189.99. My point was to show how much the same product costs elsewhere as it's easier to judge a good deal by that.

Sorry dre1988, I didn't mean to put your deal down.

with delivery AND vat

are you lot sure it can be had cheaper? the exact components?

could someone do a price comparison and work out total cost for it to be on our doorsteps?

exact components, including same make of ram. none of the cheap ram.

I'm assuming this is the same chip ?:-
http://techreport.com/discussions.x/13724

If so, then you're losing, on average, 10-20% of the processing power and with certain apps this could be much higher. IIRC, the 9550 was brought in to replace the 9500 and these had the TLB erratum fixed.

Scan had the Phenom 9500 on clearance for under 80 quid a month ago. The Phenom 9500 had the TLB error so it actually has lower performance than the revised Phenom 9550 which had the same clockspeed as the 9500. However the Phenom II has been released and the whole Phenom range is being updated in the next month ot two.

Here is some info about the TLB error:

http://techreport.com/articles.x/13741

The Phenom 9*50 series processors did not have this issue.

Using the free Supersaver postage option you can get the following from Ebuyer:

Phenom x4 9750 2.4ghz(product code 152777)- £132.51

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145260

Asus M2N68-AM(product code 145260) - £38.96

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/152777

OCZ 2gb(2x1gb) dual channel PC2-6400 Gold GX GTC(product code 114728) - £19.35

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/114728

Total(including VAT) - £190.82

Basically you are getting a much faster processor and better quality RAM for the same price!
BTW Ebuyer prices include VAT by default unless you select the website to show prices without VAT. Ebuyer also do free postage over £49.99 unless the order is very heavy.

The motheboard has support for the Phenom 9750 and 9850:

thanks for that will look into it

I have one of the Phenom X4 processors with the TLB error. [Was a free CPU promotion with motherboard purchase at the time]

Performance is well short of the mark compared to Intel's quads...........

See I would go buy this today,
I know what to do with a bundle it's all put together.. I know how to put the ram in too but the processor i'd probably end up doing wrong? And thats why I never dare buy it seperate I don't know how to do it. =/

nice research kitty, and jut goes to show what a bit of shopping round can do,
people also shouldn't forget that ecs used to be known as pcchips and in the old days that was a name to avoid bigtime....

Do a search on youtube for tutorials on how to install motherboard, processor and RAM, it's almost fool proof nowadays.

After you have done it once you will be asking why you never did it before!!

You may want to spent the extra £13 on the 9850 Black Edition (QF143263) or you may as well save £16 on your original price and get the 9650 (QF148005).
