personally I wouldn't touch a celeron with a bargepole. I'd rather fork out and extra £50 or so and get a Dual Core

Seconded, theres better deals on for a little bit extra (£50).

Wonderful, but isnt that what makes us all different. I think you have to bow to fujitsu's superior knowledge over yours. Lets face it they wouldnt make it if they couldnt sell it, a bit like intel in fact. Im sure they have sold more than a couple of celerons.

You people really dont care too much for others do you, a school kid on a budget may not have an extra £ 50. Lets not forget this forum isnt for posting your personal opinion, but bringing something to others that they may not otherwise be able to afford. Or to save them money by highlighting who is cheapest.

This is a great deal for those on a low budget. Thanks to Op I have just ordered one for my son 12 year old son. He will be over the moon.

Fujitu's superior knowledge should have put more RAM in it. 512 and Vista. Maniacs!

Then there's the 60 gig.

I'd save 30 quid and get an EEE over this.

I concur, low on ram for what it is expected to do, there have been better £299 deals posted with 1gig of ram that still went cold...sorry.
F-S will sell them to people who don't know better, and medium term will end up upgrading to ge some sort of performance.

Those are personal opionions based on your own useage.
Why settle for dual core, go for quad? :whistling: of course not, a dual core is adequate for you!

The type of processor to opt for is dependant upon the workload of the particular user. Surfing the internet, basic word processing and spread sheet compilation, a Celeron is adequate for the intended budget.
As an analogy, why buy a 3 bedroom house when 1 bedroom is used, the same reasons exist.

P.S this post is in defense of the Celeron and NOT the listed deal. The installed memory is far too low for Vista, whether Celeron or dual core, it would limp like a three legged dog. If it had 1gig ram, then a reasonable deal, 2gig ram great deal.

You can't exactly compare the two.

Agreed, i have a similar spec laptop, that's done me just fine for the last year or so, and I expect it to do me ok for general browsing etc for a couple more years. Having said that i'm using xp, and from what i've read more ram may be needed for vista. Also no mention of a wireless card.

Nothing wrong with this deal - good deal for students or those who aren't too demanding (web, office)

If you can get hold of XP drivers you can 'down'grade to XP, which I'd personally do as I cannot stand Vista.

This is a good price for a laptop and it could suite quite a few people. There's no sense saying "pay an extra £50 for dual core" - some people don't have £50 or just plain don't give a damn about some extra power. I certainly do, but that's besides the point - I'm a complete and utter geek.

Obviously won't be touching this myself as I have more than enough laptops, but fair play to those who do!

These things must be useless then as they are 2 years old. :w00t:

Intel maybe do sell lots of Celeron. That fact doesnt change what is being pointed out that there are better deals out there, but a few quid more. If you prefer a Celeron to a C2D, then Im sure Intel will be more than pleased at peoples knowledge on PC hardware and be happy with the extra profit made.

I note not one of you has actually quoted a link to any of these alternatives that you are raving about, how does this help the so called "ignorant" people to make an informed choice.

As for vista, most people end up down grading to xp anyway.
It might be low ram for you, it might be affordable for others, they can always chuck in more ram, lets face it its cheap enough.

anyway i thought this forum was for sharing offers, not bragging about how big a machine we all have.
We could all sit here knocking each others posts, well if we had nothing more exciting to do anyway

It is always difficult when a poster finds a great deal and it gets voted cold, however, that is what the forum is for....it is a cheap value notebook, and it is lacking ram, there is no question of that....and it is easy to say for £50 or £70 more you can get this that or the other...I mean what do we expect for £250...however to give you an idea of what has been available and got plenty of heat (and not to make a point...it is that you asked)
