Loads more £2.99 deals added, this is my favourite.
In John Landis' (THE BLUES BROTHERS, ANIMAL HOUSE) dripping black comedy, two American students (David Naughton and Griffin Dunne) on a European vacation wander into a creepy local pub in Northern England and are quickly thrown out. Stranded and alone in the dark countryside, the pair get lost in their search for warm lodging. Little do they know that they are about to be changed forever by an ancient terror as they walk along the moors on a moonlit night. Only one of the students survives a deadly attack by a supernatural beast--at least he thinks he survived, until the next full moon rolls around. Terrific makeup effects (by Oscar winner Rick Baker), clever editing, and raunchy tongue-in-cheek humor made this suspenseful and thrilling horror effort an instant classic.

What I don't get is how this is going to look good in HD. Older movies are recorded with film and so the quality is not going to be that great

Fantastic film, one of my all time favourites. However, I sold my collectors edition DVD and bought this some time ago and was very disappointed as the transfer is pretty poor in my opinion and is no better than dvd. Some old films look fantastic in HD, but for some reason this just didn't cut it. If you already have this on dvd then don't bother with the HD version as I doubt you will notice any difference.

HD stuff telecined from 35mm film is the best quality if done well. Good quality and clean 35mm film has much better potential resolution than things filmed in HD video. In X years time they'll be going back to the original film again to redo them in ultra HD or whatever the next level turns out to be.

More to the point, Jenny Agutter in HD - nice. Her finest work.
