You're right, I'll go and buy a PC for £55 instead - oh, wait...
I also have a Raspberry Pi and you shouldn't even consider it as a competitor. The Android TV is at least 10x as fast as the Raspberry Pi for displaying webpages but isn't as good for other uses (for example the Raspberry Pi may eventually run XBMC). At this time the Android TV has access to Google Play and will run many (but not all) Apps. Raspberry Pi runs a version of Debian and therefore is running full applications and not Apps. It's horses for courses.

While only 512MB of RAM on this player is fine for Android 2.3 it's a different story with Android 4, you really need 1GB of RAM for Android 4 to run smoothly.
Amlogics 8726-M3 is the variant that comes with 1GB of RAM, that's really what they should be using as Android 4 does not run smoothly on 512MB 8726-M1 boxes.
How are you finding it?
Haven't used it in anger yet, but the interface looks slick and the box/remote look decent quality. I wanted a media player with coaxial sound out and this has that too.

A wall plug to USB adapter and a micro USB lead will cost you about £2, if its XBMC you want to run then there is a free app that turns your phone into a remote.

Yes, still under £55 even with PSU, keyboard/mouse, SD card, ethernet cable, and runs xmbc

Not really, they're putting Android into TV's already. I fancy a device similar to this, something that hardly uses any power, is quiet, doesn't take up much space. Just waiting to hear of a decent one. I was going to order a Pi but I don't think it's for me.
