Tom Hanks' reprises his role of Professor Robert Langdon in the sequel to the hugely successful Da Vinci Code, and is taken from Dan Brown's novel of the same name. This film was actually the prequel to the Da Vinci Code, but follows on well from the DVC. The story starts with anti-matter being stolen from the Hadron Collider Experiment then Hanks' character, Langdon, summoned to the Vatican following the death of the Pope. The film centres on the selection of a new Pope as the Cardinals gather to make their decision. However, the Illuminati have mysteriously resurfaced and are determined to influence the decision by kidnapping the four Cardinals most likely succeed as Pope and threaten to kill them one by one before destroying the Vatican with the stolen antimatter. Langdon only has hours to decipher the clues left behind at key locations and find the Illuminati member who is holding the Catholic Church to ransom.

The film is a classic suspense thriller with many twists and turns to keep you guessing as to what is going to happen next. Ron Howard directs this stellar cast which includes Ewan McGregor, Ayelet Zurer and Stellan Skarsgard . The aura of the film is aided beautifully by the locations in Rome, helped by the wonderful cinematography of Salvatore Totino.
