One of my all time favourite rums.. This is not a mixer, this is a sipper!

Absolutely delicious and really REALLY smooth. I have never seen it priced down so low before. Hints of vanilla and chocolate.. I had a glass last night and left it sitting on my desk.. the area around my desk smells AMAZING this morning and they are flavours you can really pull out whilst drinking it.

This is so much more than your bog standard Baccardis, Captain Morgans and Sailor Jerry's

I stocked myself up with a few bottles, and if you like rum or sipping spirits you should give it a try too.

Finely distilled premium Caribbean rum.

The Great Fire of 1932
Opportunity is often embedded in risk. In 1932 a great fire destroyed the Trinidad & Tobago Government Rum Bond. Joseph Bento Fernandes, master blender and owner of Fernandes Distillery, seized this opportunity and bought the charred casks of rum only then to discover that this rum had aged and matured magnificently.
This prize rum was skillfully blended and called 1919 "Super" Premium Rum (1919 being the year the rum was casked). As expected this rum was soon in great demand. This demand eventually spread overseas through a most interesting set of circumstances.

Declaration of War
Within the declaration of World War II in 1939, Trinidad & Tobago troops volunteered to serve on the battlefronts in Europe. The Company decided to send a bottle of 1919 "Super" Premium Rum on a regular basis to each of our airmen serving overseas. Through their generosity they soon came to share our rum with their foreign colleagues - and thus our product become known in the wider world and our 1919 "Super" Premium Rum came to symbolise the spirit of Trinidad & Tobago.

Nearly 200 years of distilling experience is captured in this blend of rums each aged up to 10 years old from the unspoilt islands of Trinidad & Tobago. With notes of vanilla, cocoa and caramel we believed that you will drink no rum smoother than Angostura 1919.

Does it beat Kraken?

Hands down.
Kraken is also a spiced rum, this isn't

Couldn't agree more. This is the best sub £100+ per bottle rum I've ever known.

Better than anything most would care to name, including original recipe Sailor J etc.

I'll be buying a bottle at least at this price, even though I have one unopened.

Its not even in the same league.
Mount Gay is not a sipper really, its a premium mixer.. like the Appleton VX. Its a nice rum.

The Angustura is a rum you have on its own, in a glass with maybe a single cube of ice. It is really really smooth.

I bought the mount gay as a sipper on recommendation in HUKD.
I dont mix my spirits and I am reluctant to add ice as it diminishes the taste usually.

Anyhow thanks for the deal I am enjoying it.

Just bought a bottle in the local Sainsburys. Thank you for the heads up.
Heat added.

Not sure why this isn't burning hot.. Cheapest you will find this online is just below £30 with shipping, that alone would grant it over 100 degrees.

On top of that, this is without a doubt the best rum you will get for £22. As mentioned, it's incredibly smooth, even for someone like me who doesn't usually enjoy drinking rum or whisky on its own, and the flavours are unbelievable. I know it's a shame but it's also great mixed, bringing unseen levels of depth to even a rum and coke. It also makes a great present when you're looking for something more original than the tired old JD.

Thanks so much for the headsup, I'm definitely going to stock up!

I'm sorry but I can't agree with the sub £100. Maybe sub £40-50.

£22 was a good price for Angostura 1919, £40-£50 would buy their 12 year old which is far superior. My favourite, Appleton Estate 12 year old is only about £30 at my local independent off licence.
