Anything in particular you'd recommend (exept ghost in the shell)? Big fan of Ghibli films and Akira... thanks ;)

Kino's Journey is £11.21 for all four volumes (Cheapest Region 1 set is £22+).

There are some Ghibli's at £4.99

Unfortunately not all volumes for Angelic Layer and Azumanga Daihoh are available :(

Kurau Phantom Memory has six volumes (not 4 as I said earlier) so it's not worth buying (as the region1 set is cheap on Amazon)

Ordered Appleseed, thanks :)

@Wombat - can you provide a link for Kino's journey and Kurau? Can't find those on there, thanks!

I suppose I'm a bit behind because last time I checked, Appleseed wasn't released yet! As far as I know, Wings of Honneamise still hasn't been released on DVD after 12 years... It's just about my last vhs apart from a few Lupin 3s

Wings of Honneamise can be imported on Bluray. it's awesome. i've still got my VHS copy mind; i'm strangly attached to it...

Sorry I made a mistake - Not all volumes of Kurau are available (there should be 6).

Kino's journey is complete:-

If you're new to anime there are better series to be seen - I started with Ghibli's a few years back and have watched hundreds of anime now - mostly fansubbed versions; but like to pick up legitimate copies where I can.

Some great deals, worth picking up most of the Ghibli at this price. Going to finally buy Appleseed.

Been that price for ages - but is certainly good value still (I picked this up at £15.99 last year) - can't speak for the DVD quality as I haven't even opened it but reviews say it is a good set.

Got Claymore for this price from Amazon last month, still that price now for anyone who prefers amazon.

Dissapointed in the selection of boxsets at Play, I prefer box sets, I don't like having lots of fiddly volumes.

I do not really see any bargains all the ones I find that look cheap have been that price at Amazon for months, standerd price not advertised as a sale like play is doing.

I think fans of Ghibli films would also like "The Girl Who leapt Through Time" at £4.99 it has been cheaper but worth watching, and keep an eye out for Summer Wars (released late March).

I know X) That's why I said I was behind the times.

Girl Who Lept Through Time really wasn't my thing and I love Ghibli to peices but for £4.99 it is worth the viewing!

Nothing here really takes my fancy but good prices non the less on some of the stuff!

Ninja-Resurrection is great for some hack & slash

Kino's Journey is £11.21 for all four volumes (Cheapest Region 1 set is £22+)

Vol 2. is out of stock and only available via Playtrade, otherwise I'd be jumping on that.

Can't see Ghost in the Shell there (I take it you mean the first, which I haven't seen but always wanted to), has it gone?

Sorry - my mistake again - I didn't notice the seller name in my basket..

I nearly bought the Planetes series; volumes 1-3 are £1.99, and volumes 4-5 £2.99; unfortunately volume 6 went out of stock as I was looking; it's showing at Argos Entertainment for £3.43. but I think it's safer to buy the region 1 complete set for £19.21 from Amazon Marketplace...

We have had stuff from Anime Onine before. My son hasn't got round to watching many of them yet so no recommendations. Arrived quite quickly too.

They used to have about 10 pages of Clearance dvds but it's only 3 pages at the moment. Just thought I would post it as an alternative to the usual merchants.

You guys should checkout Gun Sword, really good anime ;)

Thanks for reminding me!

You did cost me money though...

I bought Lunar Legend Tsukihime Complete Collection for £2.99 (OK it's probably junk but why not try it at that price?), and also planetes box 2 for £4.99
I added the first three volumes from Play so a messy set of Planetes for just £9.27...

Agreed. I just wish they were more competitive on new/recent releases then I'd buy much more stuff from them.

Anime is such a broad subject that is is hard to recommend stuff that other people will like. There are some absolutely AMAZING movies/series but even more toot out there and I hate the fact that new comers to anime will see one of the many badly produced animes or a genre they're not interested in and write off the entire industry.

I like the Ghibli stuff- Totoro, Spirited away, Howl's Moving Castle. Also like the Ghost in the Shell S.A.C series- really well written. And I like a lot of the Seinin stuff (male adult themes- usually violence and fighting) like Gantz, Jojo's Bizzare Adventure and Fist of the North Star :D

Wrexham Andy - get it done!

I'm just about to watch Witchblade. I've just watched or re-watched ...

Claymore (awesome!), Death Note (awesome!), Darker than Black (a must watch) and Black Lagoon (my fav)

All quality.. Well worth it. Anyone that mentions Appleseed - Appleseed ex machina is good. Along with Elfen Lied and Hellsing (two other sets i've done recently)

Another absolute classic - Cowboy Bebop.
