I wanna make a small HTPC that will fit an MSI r9 280, will this be big enough and ha e adequate cooling?
#6
It will fit the card according to MSI.

The MSI r9 280 Card Dimension(mm) are 269x128x37 mm
The maximum this case supports with a PSU size of 140 x 150 x 86mm is 12.5” (317.5mm)

so a good 48.5mm spare

Cooling, it doesn't have any on the side but does have air vent holes on each side to allow flow from the PSU and Video Card fans.

Lack of usb ports on the front is a put off

Yeah only 1 x USB 3.0 and 1 x USB 2.0 - no idea why they didn't just put two USB 3.0's on the front.

But that's enough for my HTPC,

The back USB's will be for the Wireless Keyboard / Mouse dongle and a Xbox 360 Wireless controller.
Front... charging my tablet?

I'm wondering though what budget HTPC case has more than 2 USB sockets on the front?

I feel that 1 usb 3.0 and 2 usb 2.0 is better choice one usb 2.0 for wireless keyboard/mouse and one usb 2.0 for usb thunb drive for when you need to format and one usb 3.0 for portable usb 3.0 hard drive.

This is on the larger end of Mini ITX cases at 19L aimed at big power supplies and monster graphics cards. Silverstone's ML05 and ML06 (same case, different fascias) are a good mid-sized option (7L) at a similar sort of price if you don't need that sort of power for your HTPC.

I'd place the Keyboard/mouse dongle at the rear as it would be left in permanently and mine works in a USB 3 port anyway.
From my experience not many things require USB 2 for compatibility so I'd rather have more USB 3 ports.
