Antec p180 Black SPCR £59.99 - Nice PC case !

Very nice PC case.

The P180 is truly a revolutionary breakthrough in case design. Dual chambers isolate the power supply and CPU into separate cooling zones with up to 5 configurable fans. Three-layer sound-deadening panels dampen noise even in very high-performance systems. Ease-of-use, sleek design and Antecs reputation for quality make the P180 worthy of being the first in a new category we call the Advanced Super Mid Tower.

Note : The PSU is housed at the bottom, so make sure you get ine with long enough cables.

These are great cases, can't get better for under £100.

Just Putting together a pc spec, as prices on quite a few of the major parts have just dropped, this will be the ideal case.

Niceone m8:thumbsup:

I have one of the cases myself. I Run a E6600 at 3.2Ghz, using a Sythe Ninja fan with a SilentX fan attached. Idles at 41 deg usually, and never goes above 55, even under heavy load :)

Great find, excellent case and very good price. Pity it doesn't come with an Antec PSU as well.

As djfluff mentioned it is a bottom-PSU design and so there are quite a few PSUs with ATX power & molex connectors that are not long enough, but most decent ones are.

Excellent price.

Best case for a low-noise PC.

p182 is the new revision, its £81. fixes the problems that this 1 has, some psu's wont fit in this case.

Antec cases are great, and if on a budget you would prefer a case with a PSU for the same price I can heartily recommend the Antec NSK6500. Comes with a quiet 430w PSU, silicon grommets for hard disk noise damping & removable drive bay, and comes with stock 120mm fan with variable speed, bays at the front for two 92mm fans for hard disk cooling (not included) all for a bargain price at Ebuyer of £58.75 http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/114046

I have one myself and I am thrilled with the value & quality of this case.

Most PSU's fit just fine, plenty of reviews saying how bril this case is.

And in alot of orders people have gotten a P182 inside a P180.
#9
You can also buy a cable to extend the PSU cable (to reach the mobo), I got one from maplin for a couple of quid, because my Seasonic PSU didn't reach.
#11
This is a fantastic case. A couple of friends have them and they are very well built and well thought out. I've got the P150 as it was cheaper and came with a PSU which is OK, but not as good as the P180.

If you're considering getting a new case, go for this one.

As others have said, you may need extender(s) for the PSU cables as it sits at the bottom of the case rather than the top.

You can get it in silver from Amazon for the same price

Ebuyer are doing free shipping on this item anyway, so eiter/or.

Built a PC for a friend last week using one of these, was amazed at the quality and thoughtful design (aside possibly from the PSU location as mentioned).

Couldn't resist at this price and just ordered one for myself too! Had a lot of trouble trying to choose between the silver and black (on Amazon)....eventually went for the silver.

Umm ebuyer can take 7 days to deliver if you select free delivery. I'm still waiting for stuff and thats been 2 weeks. I had asked for an explanation but didnt even get a reply.

This case does seems good but i think im still going to go with the Antec 900 looks better and i can get into the drives easier. I hate hindged doors i always seem to break them. Plus i like the look of the blue fans on it http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=0&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=118268

If you don't like eBuyer, buy it from amazon !
I like the look of the 900, but it will be louder than the 180 (it has noise deadining pannels), and I think the cooling isn't as good. Depends if you care about noise, or how noisy your components..
#21
Excellent case, paid 80GBP for mine. Very well designed, it runs really cool and most importantly it's quiet. PSU still makes a horrible noise, but the case dampens most of that.

I'd never buy a 30GBP case again, the time you save building and maintaining your computer'll pay for the difference.

Excellent build quality too, can see it lasting as my main case for the next decade!
#22
Excellent cases - they've thought of everything to make them quieter, and particularly cooler. If you're overclocking it's great to have the hard disk and PSU heat in a completely separate chamber with its own fans, so you can max out the CPU without case heat making things worse.

The only reason why this is so cheap is because ebuyer will be getting new stock of the p180b meanwhile the p180 has stopped being produced by Antec. The p180b will have the same main features of the p182 such as rear cable managment and external fan controls.
#24
Quite agree.. These are brilliant cases. I built a system with one about 8 months ago, been well pleased with it!!
#25
Voted hot! I am sooooooooooooo tempted :p.
#26
Top spec casing in CustomPC mag. This is soo cheap. Voted hot.

Really want one of this... tempted...

Does anyone think it is going to be cheaper?
#27
Nope. More likely they'll sell out, stop stocking them, and the price for the replacement will go back up to 80.
#28
Thanks very much for posting this, I was dead set on the Lian-Li PC-60 Plus because I loved the cooling concept and design. But I didn't realise that front-door designed cases like the p180 also had fans on the front. However, I think I will go for the p182 as it has a shiny case and allows better cable management. Voted hot though. Great deal!

Edit - Might spend a bit more time looking at other front-door case. I'm amazed at the lack of simply designed cases. So many are are uber geeky. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I just thought there would be more of a market for stylish simplistic designs.

Nope! Buy now!

You could wait for ever on things getting cheaper/better in the PC world but something cheaper better will always be round the corner. No time like the present...

The 180b/180 both give very minor improvements over this. I'd rather save £20-£30 than have those.
#30
What's the difference between this and p182? Samy26 said that it will have rear cable management as well as fan control, which is the MAIN difference between p182 and this in the first place. What about that thing that wedges between the psu and hard drive bay that causes the cable management nightmare? (EDIT: I mean the VGA duct, soz!!)

Yeah, I read that. The thing is, if I order this p180, what's the chances that I'll get a p182 instead? (since I've been hearing about p182s being shipped in p180b boxes)

I don't even think this the p180b so basically no chance.

I've got an Antec Sonata 1, are there any benefits to getting this case like ease of use, even quieter?

This case would have better cooling & more space than the sonata 1..
#36
The p180 can be made to be a lot quieter, too! I had the original Sonata and the stock PSU really isn't that quiet... You can of course swap the PSU in the Sonata for another one but it's still far
from ideal as all the heat rises up to the PSU. As the Sonata is a small, cramped case it also has a lot of heat build-up in the one area.

The P180 keeps the PSU and HD heat in one bay and the upper bay just has the heat from your main components making it (the heat) much more manageable.

I have a P180 and I run a system that is completely fanless - none (active) in the PSU, none on the heatsink and no case fans. It's not your typical system with a low-end graphics card and a 2.5" laptop HD but it just goes to show what can be done. Here is my system spec copied from my sig on another forum:

CPU - C2D E4300 with Scythe Ninja - Fanless
Case & PSU - Antec P180 | Antec Phantom 500 | 0 case fans!
Components - 2GB Geil Ultra PC6400 | Gigabyte DS3 | X300SE passive | Samsung P60 2.5" 120GB suspended

This is interesting - the (silver) P180 I used to build a friend's PC last week, which was bought from eBuyer ~3 weeks ago, had the rear external fan-speed controls, so was obviously a P182 in drag..

By more space do you mean even more drive bays and height than is needed? :) I only have 1 dvd drive so I'd imagine I should just keep my current one.
#39
Is this one any good? http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?&product_uid=93403 its £2 more and comes with a 'silent' 450w psu

If you look at my post you'll see that there's a lot more to do with it than spare drive bays. In my P180 I have a lonely DVDRW and a 2.5" laptop HD - they're a bit drowned by the case.

If it's quiet you want though, the Sonata has its limitations. Swapping out that PSU (for the Seasonic one mentioned in the other thread) helps but there's not a lot of room in there for the components to "breath".

I went from my Sonata straight to my P180 - I was holding onto the Sonata until something close to perfect came along and the P180 was it - and never looked back. The Sonata was so limiting inmy silencing going forward and I knew it at the time.
