Previously posted at £2.99 but at £1.99 it's about the same price as a luggage strap without the lock.I picked one up from the Hulme store.

Bah, none in stock anywhere near me, good price if you can find one though.

Hardly surprising it is £1.99. Airports do not like locked luggage cases for one, hence why it is better to just use zip ties rather than padlocks on the zippers, so if on random inspection they cut them rather than breaking the lock.

With this they would just cut through the nylon, and that is the other problem, even not used at airports and just general hotel travel, it is hardly a theft deterrent that a knife or pair of scissors couldn't handle.

What a stupid comment, I suppose the same could be said about the locks on your home or your car, if a thief wants to get in he will, I use one of these straps not so much as a deterrent but for extra safety to prevent the case opening, have you seen the way the handlers throw your luggage about?...as far as inspection goes, how many cases out of the millions and millions that are handled are forcibly opened by customs, the percentage must be minimal.

Voted hot, brilliant price!!!

Far from a stupid comment, only have to look on Amazon and they have TSA Luggage Straps for this purpose, I have had a lock broken by TSA. This is why it is suggested at airports if you have a padlock or a combination lock not to activate it because they can be legally broken to check the contents.

Surely it is better just to buy one without the combination lock if at all.

Check out the reviews on Argos, several people have had to cut theres after not being able to reopen, and also the straps loosening, I take your point about extra security against the case falling open, but to call my comment stupid giving the lack of practicality of these I take offense against.

Remember what the OP put "about the same price as a luggage strap without the lock", well why not just buy one without the lock!

Correct! Makes perfect sense when you think about it too!
