Just got one of these yesterday as my old one burnt itself out...looks far better than the one in the photo - entirely stainless steel. Rolls Royce of BBQ's. Get the proper cover from amazon though to protect from the elements.

price is £440 when apparently on offer for an older looking model here...

Don't know why they let AWT put his name on these, makes them look crap, but they are top quality barbeques....just read the reviews.

An age old question I guess but is a Gas Burner as good as real Charcoal?
I have always used Charcoal and love that versatility, the way you can flavour the Smoke etc. But I have always bought -£50 BBQ's and chuck them at the end of the season. But for next summer I wanna buy a £200-£400 BBQ that will last. I have my eye on the Smoker BBQ's but something like this could swing me if its any use for a BBQ enthusiast.

Cheers!

I used to sell gas bbqs when they were introduced into the UK. With regards to the taste there is little that comes from charcoal, it is just a heat source. The taste comes from the fat dropping into the charcoal and vapourising. Remember charcoal is used in filters. The gas heat seems to be moister particularly if you cook with the lid down though you have to be carefull of fat building up and flaring off.

Personally I wouldn't go back to charcoal and you will use a gas one when you wouldn't bother firing up a charcoal one. They are great for steaks as you can get them very hot to sear them off and then stick them on the waming rack to cook them to taste. Joints come out great and don't take as long as you think and fish is good as it gets the smell out the house. Thinks to look out for are stainless steel burners and a thin intermediate surface that will be hot to flare the fat quickly, lava rock can get very fatty and flare up. I also look for a good lid. My current one has a flat flat which is good for fatty burgers and susages. IMO this looks like a good one for the money.

Why the cold votes? Yes it is expensive, but you are paying for a quality product. I did quite a bit of research for a new gas bbq and this was the best value larger one I could find. If you can find better, I would be very happy to hear from you.

There was me thinking this site was about deals.

AWT stuff gets slated on here...he has put his name to loads of stuff that's crap, for example his pot and pans sets that have wobbly handles and knife sets that are duff. So although your BBQ might be the best thing ever it is going to be an up hill battle to convince people about AWTs quality. Also, in general the RRP of AWT branded stuff is a laugh.
