I'm with VM - it's a great deal.
#7
Buy through QuidCo for up to £55 cashback
#8
But if you have to ring retentions then it's for existing customers?

I think this is a decent post... I'm with vm and pay over £30 for tv, phone line (with free off peak calls), no mobile discount and broadband... If it's cutting more than 1/3 off my bill then that must be a good thing... Voted hot :)

yes but i could fit all the deal into the titel!! it was too much to explain..x

If anybody else follows the same steps and it works, please post and let us know.

I know someone who's son works for VM and he says they will often offer betters deals to customers who are planning to ditch services to try and get them to stay.

Ironically, if you just pay your bills every month you get nowt!
#13
I am still not clear - can existing cusomers get this deal ?
#14
just rang ntl and according to them this offer ran out last week
#15
2mb isn't broadband, especially on ntl
#16
What TV package did you get, as there are 3 different levels of tv subscription, and its worth noting that even the top package doesnt include any sky own name channels.
#17
great. I'll look forward to my broadband speed doubling
#18
oo double speed in a few months. that's good.

What is it then? It is cable after all, not mickey mouse ADSL!

In a word - yes... You basically have to phone and threaten to cancel and they'll offer it you or you tell them what you want...

Meh, with my 2mb package I can download at peak times at >200KB a second (i.e, at the advertised 2mb line speed). You'd be lucky to get 50KB with ADSL at these times in my experience.

If it is going to 4mb for free soon then I'm happy (is the 10mb going to 20mb?!). Still seems worth it to ring them up and get a price reduction though.
#22
the 10mb has increased to 20mb in many areas happened in may

Depends with ADSL provider you're with. I just checked my downloads and they're currently at 440KB/sec. I'm with Zen who are one of the best providers, but not cheap at £25/pm with 20GB cap.
#24
oh hang on... looks like its only the XL package that's increasing

#25
Unfortunately it's only the 10meg that's being uplifted. CS are telling people the 2meg will be doubled but the Senior Product Manager has refuted this many times on the VM newsgroups. It's just that the customer service guys haven't quite had it filtered down to them yet...

well i only put it on yesterday??
#27
I've been on this package for some months now - they offered it to my sister as well, but she want smore tv channels. BUT, I have to ring up every month after receiving an incorrect (of course over-charging) bill to get them to amend it, after ages on sometimes rubbish customer services. I just hope it'll be sorted this time, but that's what I think every month! It's just worth being warned about, but I still wouldn't swap back, because the phone, tv and bb all meet my needs, and at £20 a bit of hassle on the phone is worth it.
#28
I have to agree with you leighrebecca... the customer service is complete and utter cr@p! :giggle:

broadband by definition is "A transmission medium capable of supporting a wide range of frequencies, typically from audio up to video frequencies. It can carry multiple signals by dividing the total capacity of the medium into multiple, independent bandwidth channels, where each channel operates only on a specific range of frequencies."

so as all the connections are exactly the same on cable apart from the fact virgin limit what rate you connect at dependent on package, distance from exchange.

Can you explain why this is not broadband given the above definition or are you one of those people who defines broadband by the connection speed?
#30
Of course 2mb is broadband anyone who remembers 56k through a phone line would laugh at that silly remark that its not bb.
#31
Ive actually found that if you're pleasant and friendly but fairly firm, customer service will give you what you want. If you go on shouting the odds about how you're going to sky then they'll only go so far.
I got 20mb broadband, XL tv and free 24hr everyday phone calls for £35.00 all in!!!
Put it this way, if YOU worked in customer service, would you entertain some git who thinks they can talk to you like you're dirt? I wouldn't.

mayebe it just depends on the advisor you speak to! ring and ask to speak to retentions, tell them that you are going to sky, but a relative has told you that they get this deal for £20 and you was wondering if you could also have it, because if you could then it would be a better deal than sky was offering and would convince you to stay. after all tell them you dont really want to leave them after so many years, howevere everyone else is far more competitive!!

Only for 4 hours in the evening if you download consistently all day which is fair enough in my book. I have never been capped despite downloading 24/7 which is odd. I am on 4mb package and just swapped my modem from an NTL Home 200 to a VM 255 and for some reason seem to be getting around 20Mb.

You cant get one from ebay but can get one for free from ntl by saying you want to upgrade to 20mb package but your modem cant handle it. I just did it online by pretending I had a really old modem (Terayon TJ210) here:-

Only problem is with VM

-You pay 25p a min and 10p connection charge for calls to broadband support
-They have 80% outsourced call centres
-You dont get basic Sky channels

I would say your much better off joining Sky as you get better customer service response and they offer better value for money
