I was a little put off going by negative comments on here regarding AO and their returns policy but i had no issues returning a "faulty" tv to them and then ordering a replacement a few days later. AO are fine with returns as long as the item has a fault, no matter how intermittent it is - something like that you'll get a full refund but if you return something you've admitted to using because you're not impressed with the quality, it's not suitable you'll be hit with a possible hefty restocking fee.

Nice tv. I got the same model but 40" from AO and it's been spot on for PlayStation

Don't have Netflix but you do have access to 4k (UHD) content on amazon instant video (the grand tour was brilliant) and it also has SmartIPTV too which was only available on LG and Samsung smart TVs

Restocking fees are illegal. I ordered a shed and tried to cancel before delivery. They tried to deliver then charged me 25% restocking fee. Had to go through small claims court but they quickly backed down before it got to a hearing.

Q: Can I charge a re-stocking fee?

A: No, you can’t. You must also advise the customer at the outset that they will be responsible for the cost of returning the goods to you and if you offer to collect for a fee, they should be given some idea of how that is calculated. If you don’t warn them they can expect you to meet the costs of getting the goods back.

Q: What if the customer has used the goods?

A: If you can prove they’ve used them you can deduct an amount from their refund to reflect that. They do have the right to inspect the goods, just as they would in a shop, so be aware that if they need to remove packaging in order to inspect the goods, you’ll need to allow that.

Tbh Tesco wouldn't take a sandwich back i didn't like so I'm not surprised ao will not take a TV back that you don't like.

Illegal or otherwise, many would prefer not to have the possible hassle of going through the legal system.
I have no issues with AO, won't buy from them while they reserve the right to withhold a refund.

I bought an LG TV from AO.com last year.

It was junk. I called them the same day it was delivered. They were a nightmare, passing me from one dept to another and then finally advising I should call the manufacturer myself. They claimed that as I'd switched it on and set it up I couldn't return it.

I would have pushed it further but I was selling the house so just left it as art of the deal.

I'll never buy from them again.

Yup. Gearbests rating makes a complete mockery of the site

7.6!!! WTF!? Even a minus would infront would be kind.

Edit - lol and amazon, generally considered to have some of the finest CS available is rated:

If you wish to return something to AO and want to avoid their restocking fee it MUST be faulty. I returned a Seiki that was terrible all round, it did however lock up on me twice in short succession and this was my reason for return - it was picked up the next day and I had a full refund later that day. Had I told customer services I wanted to return it because I wasn't happy with it, as I had plugged it in (plugging it in is classed as used by AO) It would have been a different story. Like I said in my first post, I was nervous about using them for a TV, but I was proven wrong and had no hesitation ordering a Hisense TV from them a few days after the Seiki went back.

Check your cable isn't v1.4, you need hmdi v2.0 to display 4k

I have the 55" version and it's a great TV but be aware only HDMI 3 & 4 are 4K 60Hz compliant which isn't an issue for most.

No. Any working high speed HDMI cable will support 4K content. Plus, there is no such thing as a v.1.4 or v2.0 HDMI cable.

Hmm, interesting. Hardly very trustworthy then.

A bit like Checkatrade who don't want to know if you have any complaints about their, paid for members.

Anyone suggest any more independent retailer / tradesman review sites please?

Personally I wouldn't buy from AO as they appear to have a higher than acceptable amount of complaints on here alone. And when other retailers like Richer Sounds and John Lewis offer 2-6 year warranties just doesn't seem to be worth the meagre savings - especially on TVs

Luckily we haven't had any issues with big electrical purchases but kettles, toasters and microwaves have consistently failed or broken. Well Russell Hobbs ones have!

I've never really seen the point in that because they gold plate the outside connector but that's not the bit that connects electronically it's just to hold it in place inside the slot

I've never had issues with AO, my grandparents also recieved a faulty washing machine and while the guy should have seen the fault while fitting to begin with... they did come next to pick it up and the refund was with them very shortly. But i guess its the same with all companies - always going to have some bad experiences.

I bought my parent's TV from them (the model up from this). Was really happy with the customer service and delivery etc. Would use again.

Thats if everything goes well and u know what to expect.. for me if i was to buy this TV and it got delivered i open it its not good,i would want to return it which i would be able to get full refund for if bought from other retailers.. but i would have to gulp it down by keeping the tv that im not happy with coz its AO.com so i'd rather steer clear of it. Rather pay a bit more buying elsewhere at least i'll have my peace of mind knowing i wont be left with no legs to stand on. ;)

Why would they ask you to call the manufacturer if they didnt think it was faulty you should have pushed a little bit to let them know the cpntradicyion , no i wouldnt buy from AO or any one with "re stocking " fees

I bought bike from argos.. and within warranty time,i went back with faulty brake and chain,i was told to contact manufacturer too.. they just fobbed me off
