They can hang some christmas lights on the deal - it's still a very poor broadband experience.
#2
I found them very good until they got angry with my usage...

How long are you tied in for? Flog the router and PS3 and pocket the cashback?
#3
link doesn't work
#4
The contract tends to be either 12 or 18 mnths. :-(

Hmmm, there may be some mileage in that suggestion you know. I assume you need a BT line for this deal to work - which of course by adding line rental blows any sniff of a bargain out of the water......:x.....if not, worth a look.

I used to have aol broadband before we swapped to the sky pay nothing per month deal and i never had any probs with aol..would recommend them. Does it depend on your area as to whether you get a good service?

Seems like a good deal to me.
#7
it's a 24 month contract ...... quidco gets you £4 odds a month off so around £16 for broadband with a free PS3 or laptop. Not a bad deal really , there are worse ISP's out there!

I have been with AOL/Tiscali and other providers. AOL has been THE BEST.
#9
Does AOL still make you install loads of horrid software on your PC or do you just get a router and off you go?
#10
No you get a router now, you can still install the software
#11
£15 to get the PS3 delivered also, and I'm guessing these prices require you to live in a AOL LLU area. They add about £10 to the price if not in a LLU area
#12
It is a rubbish laptop though, you can buy it for £279.
#13
I could be persuaded to leave Virgin for this, i'm on £17.99 8MB a month at the moment.
#14
You've then got your BT line rental to add.

The best from a bad bunch yes, not the best out there! see adslguide.org.uk for a decent broadband provider (not my site)

Three months ago i received a letter from AOL stating they had been bought out by the Carphone Warehouse since then my connection has dropped for couple of hrs each time. Speed test also confirms my ISP is actually The Carphone Warehouse although I am with AOL.
#17
So if this is so rubbish ,how come it's hot?
#18
Here is over a hundred reasons why you should stay away from AOL:

They were my first and WORST provider.

Im with AOL now and have been for 2 years not had any problems at all.

I've been an AOL member for years - my first ISP (dialup era).

The complaints might have something to do with AOL installing their own equipment in your exchange (LLU). I subscribed to their 2 Mbps fixed ADSL package for a year (provided by BT, no LLU) and I never had a problem maxing out the line. Subsequently recommended it to others who are just jumping on the internet bandwagon, not heard anything bad yet.

Quidco paid out no problem (£80) a while back.

In fact, if you want the laptop, the contract is 24 months!

AOL is for NooBs lol. You try cancelling when you want to leave them, they make it impossible.
#23
I have been with AOL for 12 years, we have had our ups and downs got a down at present, but i get it sorted, got freinds on virgin (ntl) and have nothing but trouble (pay for 20mb and get 5mb for 12 hours a day) brilliant deal that for £35 a month.

Me thinks not.
#24
does anyone know if you can current aol contract then take out this new offer??
i've been with them for about 9/10yrs now...
#25
ring them, threaten to cancel. See what they offer, other wise cancel move to someone like Be who don't have 12/18 month contracts and go back.
#26
yeah nevet thought of that...
i'll give it a go and let u know how it goes....
