First of all, DON'T VOTE COLD until you read further!!!

Whilst on my trip around PC World stores in Manchester today (Bury tomorrow!) I noticed these at the Stretford Store. At least 30 sealed boxes on half the gondola/shelf!

The package according to the box offers 2 months free broadband internet usage and the hardware to do so for only £0.97. Now with most internet broadband provider's starter packs, they offer 2 microfilters, 1 * USB Cable, 1 * RJ11 cables, and 1 * USB broadband modem!

A quick google search shows the equivalent prices of above said items...
Microfilter * 1 = £1.49 + £1.64 P+P so times 2 = £4.62
USB Cable (A to B) = £6.99 (play.com)
RJ11 Cable = £1.76 (play.com)
BT Voyager 105 = £4.95 + £3.50 P+P (ebay) = £8.45

Grand Total of contents (assuming that you use it for parts/spares etc!!!)
= £21.82

And you only pay £0.97 (giving a nice tidy profit of £20.85 if you can sell for the above prices as spares etc!)

Sorry guys, but no pictures this time, too many staff wondering around - didn't want to get told off for taking pictures (its happened so many times before.)

OK, the rest of you, you can now start voting cold if you *really want to*!

Is it never ever had a problem in 7 years being with them.:whistling:

Ahh yeah,

12 month minimum contract, but the whole point of this thread is for the parts within, NOT the service from AOL unless you *really* want to use them...

I.e. go for 02 broadband with (hopefully) a mobile phone discount and quidco cashback, and if its your first ISP broadband provider and you need more than 2 microfilters, buy this kit for the extra ones instead of paying £3 or so for each you need! And have a spare USB / RJ11 cable for when your *insert animal here* chews through the existing one.

HELLO ITS THE PARTS YOUR BUYING NOT THE AOL CONTRACT THATS THE BIT YOU LOB IN BIN!

Good deal for the parts and modem should be able to remove password etc easy enough being aol
#7
you would have to pay me to use aol broadband and even then i am not sure that i would take the offer.

yes this is a good price just for the equipment but surely they are not goin to let you buy the equipment for 97p without signing an aol contract (i could be wrong)
#8
AOL HELL! I'd pay not to have them ever have a right to touch my line! Next to plusnet worst ISP out there!
#9
I think your prices are a bit off - RJ11 and USB cable from CPC cost 67p and 58p respectively, but since that already takes you over the 97p I'm voting hot.

Chucking the software of course.

I hope you've renegotiated with them during that time? I did it again a few weeks ago and have got an increase in speed and a £5 reduction.

I've been with AOL for 9 years and never had any issues. Have also rengotiated but am outside of my 18 month contract so may try to get a better deal! I'll have to check what I'm paying now! Thanks for the reminder!

Keep your hair on... As I said, I posted after bedtime! :whistling:

I don't think I'd go out of my way for this though as anyone moving ISP would get a new modem and filters anyway... Dropped at their door to boot!

Personal opinion - may suit others but not me sorry!!!

Warm vote as it's a case of preference I'd say!!!

Ahh but you're forgetting the high £6 or so P+P cost unless you're spending over £40 anyway...

97p is a great deal just for spare parts.
